Brendan Haywood's Trade Exception

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Let's be realistic here. Brenda is a scrub and he's still a douche as well. Trade him to Washington.

He's a veteran who can help this team of healthy, then help them bring in something that can help in the longer term next year. Seriously dude? Are you still holding a grudge against 23 too?

Haywood showed some mobility and a willingness to run the floor. He didn't look that fast, but as a true center who plays like Kendrick Perkins, he doesn't have to win any track meets. The key will be his ability to go full speed - for Haywood - and still stay healthy. I will say this, while Varejao was able to score on him, I saw some great upside. Haywood bodied Andy up throughout and boxed out, went after loose balls, pointed out open guys and communicated on defense... he is a veteran who has played a lot of playoff minutes in his career. He looks a lot better with 4 superior athletes around him, but it allowed him to impersonate Kendrick Perkins in longer stretches than I expected.

Great, he is almost as good as the biggest anchor that has held down the Thunder since he put on a Jersey. I'd rather throw in shitty D-league players then see a player "almost as good as" Kendrick Perkins weigh down this team.

Weigh down?

If he plays 10-15 minutes a game with 2-3 elite scorers on the floor with him at any time, how great is the risk of him really weighing the team down?

Brenda will be playing for a ring. Whatever attitude issues there may have been, she will be giving us her best. The way this team is loaded at every other position, 8 minutes of Brenda's best especially during the inevitable blowouts should not slow us down measurably. During the regular season, I think we will see a lot of Tristan at center, with garbage minutes going to Kirk. They will use Andy as the first center off the bench

Perkins in Boston was a great defensive center. After he got hurt, though, he never fully came back, and that's the guy you see on the Thunder. When you couple that with Scott Brooks' inept offensive coaching, you've got a guy who drags his team down. Also, Perkins is only an anchor for the Thunder because Brooks has insisted on playing him. It was only this season that he finally dropped Perkins to under 20 minutes a game, which is realistically all he should be getting at this point in his career. He can still give you some tough-nosed defense, but he's too much of a liability offensively (and a poor match-up with some centers, and especially in small ball) to play big minutes at this point.

Correct, even if Brenda's best is the flexibility provided by her expiring contract next year...:chuckle:

I was surprised he was even up to the level he was at. I mean, he hasn't really played in a year and a half. He's definitely lost some weight.

From the scrimmage (link above)-
medium-slow in general, but still decent footwork, looks like Kevin Willis moving around out there,
-looks very light though, maybe down in the 245-255 range?
-Knees look a bit ginger, but...

.33 saves ball inbounds (would've fallen out of bounds if he was too bad off)
- heads up play to flick it ahead to Kyrie ahead of pack- set up that Kyrie between the legs highlight to LBJ
.33.32 decent ORB boxout, heads up scoop pass to LBJ for dunk- LBJ ackknowledges
.33.50 shows decently even out to perimeter (again @.36.38)
.33.58 looks good enough guarding Andy around the key- moving like a rim protector-
at least within that 5-7 foot area
.35.47 gives and goes straight to post like he knows what he's doing
- will he still be able to post up effectively with those knees??
- he does clear out of the lane for James Jones here, bodes well for doing same for LBJ
.36.49 Baby hook still looks good against 7'0 Kirk, although time ran out

Haywood wouldn't be starting or getting big minutes on this team, that's the difference here.

He averaged 3.5 & 4.8 in 19 MPG 2 years ago, which is solid. He only shot 43%, but he won't be touching the ball nearly as much here. The year before, he averaged 5 & 6 in 21 MPG with Dallas.

I'll gladly take that type of production in 10-12 minutes per night.

I mean, if all went perfect...like he got close to the level he was at when he used to play us- I could envision an effective 4-bigs playoff rotation backed up by Lou Amundson: (no Kirk)
C- Haywood (12-14 MPG), Varejao (bulk)
PF-Love, Tristan

Proceed with the flaming...

Heck yeah- I would take it even if he was a "false starter" ala Rolando Blackman- if only to keep Andy healthy!

Varejao- games played over the last 4 years: 31, 25, 25, 65

That is all.

Hmmm...so including playoffs, Andy played 182 out of 189 possible games in 08-09 and 09-10. Maybe now that LeBron's back he'll be healthy again this year? :chuckle:

You keed, but honestly, it's what the majority of the fans either think...

or they're just doing the old head in the sand:

(Except Pioneer, and a handful of others- you know who you are :chuckle: )

Watched the phantom cam highlights of the wine and gold scrimmage. Somehow they managed to make haywood move at his normal speed

I miss the cavs wizards rivalry. So much trash talk, big moments, villains, and we won every year.

Hope we have that again and it looks like it's shaping up to be that way.

Can't wait for durant to get their hopes up and for their dreams to be crushed.
