Brendan Haywood's Trade Exception

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Someone will have to correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard (saw it somewhere also) it said that the Cavs can't trade that 1st rounder this year, since they delt away other 1st round picks.
They cannot trade it out right.

They can trade the draft rights to a player chosen at that spot after the pick has been made, or they can trade the pick and acquire another from this draft.

Some people on reddit mentioned trading him for Brandon Jennings or Rudy Gay?

Rudy Gay or Brandon Jennings would be phenomenal.

Id love for our bench to get Gay!!!

We are operating right now at Lebron's window. The goal is to win a championship when Lebron still plays at an elite level. So we have about 3 to 5 years. That's why I think we are targeting 26 years old. We want them to be mature and experienced for grueling playoffs, but still at their prime in the next years, while Lebron can still carry the team.

What would it take to get George Hill?

No, thank you for Brandon Jennings. Rudy Gay will cost a lot.

One thing to keep in mind....

If we use the full 10-11 million of this contract, this acquisition is going to cost a FUCK load of money.

Like 30 million in luxury taxes fuck load because of the tax multipliers.

Are either of those players worth that? It's not even my money but I would say hell no.

Gay is going to be 29 and Jennings is coming off an achilles injury.

If you're going to shell out that kind of money, it better be for a younger player with a ton of upside IMO.

Guys like Gay and Jennings are not worth footing that kind of bill.

our first and haywood is a pretty nice haul if a team is looking to dump salary though

That's the question though, is SAC really looking to dump salary? Can anybody chime in how important Rudy is on that team? I know for a fact that the team really wants to win it as Cousins is starting to lose patient and Vivek is probably jealous as hell that GS just won a chip 2 years removed from being a part owner that team. I don't think that Haywood's contract and our first this year will cut it. We will probably need a third team to make it work.

I'm not 100% certain we could even trade Haywood to Charlotte as they are the ones we received him from in the first place. Could be wrong though.

You could after 7/1. The league year resets then.

Can't see Kings trading Rudy Gay. Also, can we afford him? That is another question. As for Brandon Jennings, why the fuck would we sign a volume shooter who TBH isn't really a better shooter than JR? Doesn't make sense at all. Amongst the point guards who could create and score, I think Jose Calderon is the best option that is probably gettable. Very good shooter and has got good court vision. So can handle the ball when LeBron rests.

Batum will probably 1 of our targets, but i don't think Portland will trade him seeing that they are quite thin on the perimeter being matthews is out due to ACL. I agree that Jennings is not worth it, but Gay though is different. Him running the bench as well as spell some minutes off lebron while still playing some decent all around game can be a plus. Months ago, someone on real gm posted a thread about Haywood's contract and 1 of the name brought in was Iggy seeing that they need to dump him in orde to resign Green. Seeing his performance in the finals though, it seems GS will likely keep him and just pay the luxury tax. There aren't really young perimeter player that we can acquire using Haywood's contract, the options we have is quite thin.

The teams I would focus on the most are San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Boston.

These are teams that for a variety of reason, are looking to create cap space or move out guys who are no longer system fits for them.

So players that may available could include: Tiago Splitter, Patty Mills, Monta Ellis, Ray Felton, Wilson Chandler, JJ Hickson, Randy Foye, OJ Mayo, Jared Dudley, Jerryd Bayless, Brandon Jennings, Brandon Bass, and Avery Bradley

It goes without saying that these are just educated guesses, but it wouldn't shock me to see a lot of those guys moved this offseason.
