Buffalo snow storm

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Right...and some people have familial responsibilities in an area that they can't just pick up and move.

And if you have a great career and roots in an area, snow and cold weather is a small price to pay.
Fine, they can take their familial unit and/or great careers and use that to remove the snow. Not my problem to help them remove the snow or feel bad for them because of where they CHOSE to live.

Pretty shallow... As is the assumption that everyone should strive to live in the same climate as you..

Call it whatever you want, I would feel the same way if it was a forest fire in CA, flood in LA, hurricane in FL or a tornado in KS.

Just not my problem.

through the accounting scope:

extraodrinary loss (something that happens very infrequently and should not be expected, such as alien spacechip landing on all your inventory and smashing it) is recognized by the irs and deducted as a favor.

earthquakes in socal, tornadoes in the southeast are expected to happen. your loss is your loss.

Ya, fuck 'em. All six dead people and the family that has to deal with this...

It's like people who get hit by tornadoes deserve the sympathy, but not those suckers who live where there's snow! :ok:

his argument is that those who live with extreme conditions (regardless off tornado, hurricane, tarantulas etc) should expect to deal with consequences. While tragic, it is not like they spontaneously expired.

It's not about reading comprehension. It's about being an asshole. Especially with regard to what Lee said.

At least I'm honest with myself in regard to what I care about. I don't champion causes I could care less about.

If you truly care about natural disasters and big storms that's great for you. For me it is just another day passed.

You have the right to be wrong.

I busted my ass for 9 months working 80 hours a week saving about $5k and moved to NC with no job prospects lined up. I have worked at one of the best companies to work for in America and now I'm at one of, if not, the most respected companies in the world. Anyone can escape winter, it just requires motivation.

I am assuming you are single, no kids. That keeps allot of people where they live. I am also assuming you had the ability to save because if you weren't living at home, you had the ability to earn more than expenses, not the case for all people.

I did the same thing, but just because i was able to and you were able to does not mean everyone has the choice. I have a friend stuck because he refuses to leave because his ex wife wont move. Others cant save up money in there current financial situation.

I am glad you are in a strong enough situation that you could move, but the broad picture you painted is not reality for well over 50% of the people in this country.

You chose to be an asshole, you done always get to chose where you live. Other forces can dictate your geography.

Call me what you want but we both know this thread's participants don't lose an ounce of sleep over these snowstorms or any other natural disaster for that matter.

So, what happens if this ever happened where you live? (if you lived in Ohio)

I don't think the people are looking for sympathy, if you think that is what they're doing.

No ones ever really seen this type of snow in a long time, that is why it is a big deal.

I would be annoyed and would want people to quit bitching about it. Sure it's a lot of snow but it's not like it's some new revelation. Buffalo in particular gets hit every year with huge snowfalls, marginally speaking what's the difference between 3' and 6' of snow? Not much, both pretty much shut the city down, leave people stranded and cause damage.
