Meanwhile...what's with the hatred for gays? Why is that their cause?
With all the things that are wrong with human beings, these idiots spend all their time, money and resources flying out to straight people's funerals to protest where a tiny segment of society wants to put their penises?
How does one's mind operate like that? How can they be capable of functioning on a day to day basis when they're infatuated with the sexual preferences of others whose decisions and choices have literally no bearing on their lives.
I'm not sure why someone hasn't set off a bomb on them yet. Not saying it's the "right" thing to do...just that it seems like it'd be pretty easy to set up. If anyone deserves to be murdered, it's people that think like this. And shit...they're all together in the same place at the same time for extended periods of time. I'm just shocked no-one has been crazy/angry enough to try it.

Probably just because they know it is controversial. They don't give a rats ass what they themselves believe in or what they themselves stand for, I suspect....if the WBC could illicit hatred and physical abuse (and thus win lawsuits) by supporting gay rights at funerals, they would probably do that instead.

I read the Wiki page on them today and learned a few interesting things.
People have had success legally preventing their protests by making it illegal to protest within 300-500 feet. Only a couple states have done this and it has worked, but i stand by the assertion that if more states did this, they would just move on to another forum such as weddings. Its interesting that this legal tactic has had success, but i think the WBC hasn't countered it because they don't have to yet.
They seem to be entirely motivated by their interpretation of the bible. They are not just looking to hate everyone who isn't a WASP, as i would have originally thought. They are actually very much against racism because they say 'scripture doesn't say anything about race'. It really seems like they are just people who are really wrapped up in their perverted version of religion (or perhaps just 'religion', depending on how cynical you are on religion in general
). They are also almost entirely compose of an extended family of one man, for those who don't know. In all of their statements about other groups they do seem to say them in the most hateful and offensive ways possible though.
Basically I think they are hateful people raised in a family filled with hate, but they guide that hate purely by their interpretation of the bible and actually feel validated in it. If you would argue with them, I would guess there would be absolutely no way to convince them of anything unless you were making an argument based on scripture, and the main father of the family would have the ultimate authority with that anyways.

I was up there this AM from 7-10:15 or so. I took a couple of pics. They never showed. My guess is they will appear at the burial as that is more open and they would have more space to move around. They had to be 300 ft away from the church which would have put them across the street. We were on the church side sidewalk and then line was about 5-6 people deep. There was a motorcycle club of about 20 guys that looked like they were ready for some action. A rumor spread that the WBC was walking down from the square, as soon as they heard that they left the middle school parking lot and walked towards the square for a showdown.

Kills me that I couldn't be there today while people who aren't even from Chardon or didn't even go to the school were there.
My roommate said his Dad got a bunch of motorcycle dudes to go help out, that was sweet.

I've seen a ton of things on the shootings and every channel i turn on i'm reminded of it. I get really sad, i don't like things like this. It doesn't help that it is on every channel, and website, and i hear a lot about it. It depresses me. Like the day it happened and the day after was okay, and now i just keep getting reminded of it. Anyone else have to change the channel now because it's to sad to watch?
