How often are you supposed to remind the guy, though? This was a sequence that was pretty continuous, from the inbounds play, to Chicago going the other way, to the Cavs coming back and Blatt trying to call a time out. He probably was told the number of timeouts less than a minute before, and he's obviously watching the game very closely. Is it really smart for an assistant to distract him at that point and say "Coach, we don't have any timeouts left", when it's something that he as essentially just told? Are they supposed to keep reminding him every 30 seconds?

I just can't blame the assistants for that.

What we think doesn't really matter? It's what they were told to do. If an assistant was told to spin in circles whenever we run out of timeouts and he fails to do so ... he's failed.

That's quite a bit different from claiming that "all evidence" points to Lue.

I was talking about evidence involving the role of Cavalier assistants and timeouts:
We know Lue was aware of the situation, because he stood up and grabbed Blatt. We know Lue keeps track of timeouts because it's part of his job to help tell Blatt when he should call them. And the media will tell you he's been witnessed calling for timeouts from the bench. We know Lue is the associate head coach of the team, and if any of the assistants had permission to interrupt the HC or players during the game it would be him.

It's not conclusive. It doesn't prove anything, but the interesting thing is it *could* be proven (or disproven) by some pointed questions or by someone who sits close enough to the the bench to observe how the assistants interact during a game.

Gibsons flagrant 2 was downgraded to flagrant 1, and in any case it's not an automatic suspension. He will play in game 6.

I thought they didn't downgrade it. But he doesn't get an automatic suspension either way.

Yeah, it didn't get downgraded. He had a flagrant 1 from before plus the flagrant 2 from yesterday, so 3 points total. You have to get to 4 points to get an automatic suspension.

Probably my favorite paragraph from any article involving the Cavs this postseason:

It’s hard to fathom how utterly the Cavaliers defense swallowed up the Bulls. Sure they outscored them 29-20, but the Bulls were only 3-21 after Aaron Brooks scored on Chicago’s open possession. Only their 12-13 showing at the line. They blew their whistle so much against the Cavs that the refs’ lips were beginning to look like Angelina Jolie’s.

That quarter was a disgrace to the NBA. LeBron and the Cavs completely eviscerated the Bulls, yet the refs managed to keep it somewhat close.

Eh I would put a lot of blame on the cavs for stepping off the gas and just chucking shitty shots. That's a recipe to choke away a lead.

I had this same feeling, but watching at the game, Noah would literally camp in the lane on defense for 10+ seconds at a time on some possessions. Tristan would smartly move away from him, and Noah would scramble back to tap TT on the shoulder every 8 seconds minimum and then run back, but it's still against the rules. It's tough to get 'good' shots when the other team can get away with doing that because Love is hurt and Joey Crawford is the self-named face of the NBA.
