Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Rosen sounds a little rough around the edges. Unliked by some teammates ala Phillip Rivers or Aaron Rodger....we need that kind of dick head here.

So far, those picks have been used on Corey Coleman, right tackle Shon Coleman, quarterback Cody Kessler, receiver Ricardo Louis, safety Derrick Kindred, receiver Jordan Payton, offensive lineman Spencer Drango, Jabrill Peppers and DeShone Kizer.

Drango & Kindred are solid. If 2 of the 3 of Kizer, Peppers, and Coleman do not turn out to be pro bowlers, I think its safe to say we lost that trade.

It’s been a rough 2 years without a disliked QB.

If there was a debate about whether or not the Browns should take a QB #1 or build around Kizer (was there one?), that is over.

We should build around kizer.

We should build a small brick room around kizer with no doors or windows so he cannot escape and management thinks he is the QB of the future.

I predict Alex Smith will be our starting QB next year and Josh Rosen will be our #1 pick next year.

Dorsey did this in GB with Aaron Rodgers although obviously Favre was already on the team.
I can't imagine Smith would sign here knowing he would not be the starting QB beyond one season max. He will get starting QB offers with legitimate contenders.

I agree, except one thing. Free agency is before the draft and I am guessing Alex Smith doesnt think Kizer will take his starting role away.

True, in that Kizer isn't a threat to anyone's job. However, I think most people expect the Browns to draft a QB at #1. I think it's more likely he goes to a team like Jacksonville, Washington, Denver or Arizona.

I suppose this is the most appropriate thread for this...

Some incredible quotes in there.

I just finished reading this. Kelly Holcomb was pissed. Brady Quinn comes off very whiny. Couch has a legit gripe. The rest of those QB's just weren't good. We all know the story of our QB situation over the years but pieces like this always seem to gloss over the fact that none of those guys were actually good and other than Couch none of them really warrant any sympathy.

Yeah. I felt for Couch & Holcomb. The rest of those guys can fuck off :chuckle:

Holcomb used to play here at MTSU. I see him around our facilities and at games every so often. He knows I'm a Cleveland fan and we have discussed his time here. He says it was the best and worst points of his career. The best because the team had success and it was exciting to be in Cleveland on a playoff team. But also the worst because he saw that playoff team get blown up by questionable off-season and coaching moves.

I had to drag this thread back from page 2.

Clearly we need to find our veteran bridge quarterback.Dorsey seemed to indicate he might go that route in his interview yesterday.

What veteran bridge QBs are available in this off season? Who can be the "Juan Calderon" of the Browns? Experienced and competent, able to play, but okay with mentoring and backing up a #1 pick when the time comes?
