Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I had to drag this thread back from page 2.

Clearly we need to find our veteran bridge quarterback.Dorsey seemed to indicate he might go that route in his interview yesterday.

What veteran bridge QBs are available in this off season? Who can be the "Juan Calderon" of the Browns? Experienced and competent, able to play, but okay with mentoring and backing up a #1 pick when the time comes?

Bradford, McCown, Stanton, Fitzpatrick, Sanchez, Keenum, Bridgewater, Daniel, Gabbert, McCarron.

I read "bridge QB", then immediately read "Dorsey"... I had flashbacks. :bad:

Jose?

I'd love to get Keenum here. He's been great this year.

But if I was Keenum's agent, I'd advise him to sign literally anywhere else. He's spent this entire season rebuilding his reputation and now people believe he can be a serviceable to good QB. No way I'd let him throw all that away by having him play for Hue Jackson. I'd tell him to play in the fucking CFL before doing that.

My nickel is on Chase Daniel. The negative is that he has a below average arm and he's short. He isn't exactly a Hue Jackson type arm. Positives include a great reputation as a mentor - Penderson gave him bridge QB money to mentor Carson Wentz - and was mentored by Drew Brees. Dorsey has a history with him in KC. If the goal is to find an inexpensive guy to help out Kizer and a high pick, they could do worse. He will do a better job of getting young players in the right position and be accurate with pro timing on throws than we have seen in a long time.

Keenum should try and parlay this season into what Matt Schaub did. Go sign a deal somewhere you know you'll be the starter.

Didn't Dorsey make some reference to Chase Daniel since he got here?

I liked McCown but I think there might be a downside to doing a rehash of his time here, maybe a little bad taste and PTSD factored in.

I've always thought Fitzpatrick would be a good guy for this role, and he had lots of experience playing in Buffalo with periods of success at times.

Yeah, he was asked about minimum height requirements for the QB position in respect to Baker Mayfield. Hue has said 6'2 is ideally the basement for QB height. Dorsey told the press:

"I want to be able to project and articulate my opinion when the time comes and it matters. I saw [Mayfield] at Kansas this year, in the OU-Kansas game. You’re darn right he’s a good quarterback, no matter how tall he is. Some would say he’s too short, but I would ask you: How tall is Russell Wilson? How tall is Chase Daniel?"

No inside info, I just feel like that was a purposeful name drop of a player who will be available, but he can't contact directly because he is under contract with New Orleans.

That Jake Burns is a nobody AFAIK. Highly doubt he has any sources. With that said, let's do the opposite of whatever Hue wants please. I think most of us can agree on that by now :bad:

This would fit the rumors that Dorsey really doesn't like Rosen
