What do you see as a "number of years" ? Is this because of his injury history?

LeBron level longevities are unheard of, but Steph was supposed to be injury-prone and hasn't really declined at the rate people expected.

He's got good skills for a guy his size, but what makes him so valuable is the ridiculous athleticism for a guy his size. The skills themselves are nothing special. I think the concern is whether a guy built that way can maintain that level of athleticism into his mid/late 20's, whether he can keep himself from putting on weight, etc.. Because if he gets hurt, or puts on weight and loses some of that athleticism, he's no longer the dominating guy he is today. The weight issue something you normally have to worry about with most basketball players who are more naturally lean. And obviously, the concern with injury is that his joints are carrying a lot of weight, and that is compounded by how high he jumps, etc.. The athleticism plus the weight means a lot more pounding on those joints.

Maybe he'll be fine, but I think it's a valid concern about him long-term.

I like Collin and thought the knee-jerk criticism he received from many fans early on was shallow. Unlike, say, a certain Andrew Wiggins, this guy has a motor and cares. He's clearly willing to learn and get better.

That being said, I'm still not sure what his NBA ceiling is. I want to see him more with Love next season. Want to see how he continues to develop.

Nice watching Sexton v Fox last night since a lot of people are comparing the two (or at least, comparing their improvements). They've got that same twitchy speed but Fox has the handles to really put guys on skates. Would love to see Sexton learn that.

I for one had a pretty unfavorable hot take on Sexton 20+ games into the season.

But have to hand it to him, he's turned a weakness into a strength and cleaned up his game. The floor vision for a PG is still lacking, but I'm impressed with his work ethic.

His presence on the roster wouldn't make me turn away from a Ja Morant or Coby White if that was who I thought the BPA was wherever I found myself drafting. I think this is somewhat important. When we had Kyrie, there was no way we'd have expected Grant to pick Dam Lillard, even if he was likely the BPA at the time.

Gs announcers were asking why Cedi and Nance didn't put it in Sexton's hands at the end

Sure seems like the other players don't like Sexton very much. Any truth to that stuff about being not coachable from earlier on in the season? Usually people blame it on J.R. but maybe it was also the case for other players?

It doesn't appear to be just a rookie thing. You always got the impression everybody liked Cedi last year and even Kay Felder before that.

I'd imagine that Sexton doesn't take a back seat, and doesn't defer even off court as normal rookies might. That could be a legitimate gripe except the kid works his butt off. At some point, it is up to the veterans to accept who he is because the kid works his ass and is clearly improving.

I've never gotten the sense that Cedi doesn't like Sexton. I think Nance and Clarkson don't like him but I think that is an infection that JR started and team hasn't been able to get rid of completely yet.

Love, Delly, and Frye seem to like Sexton. Knight also seems to want to help mentor him. I think the older guys see the potential of Sexton and want to help him develop. Maybe Nance, Clarkson, and possibly Cedi see him more as competition for touches and being the man on this team.

I actually think Cedi has an expanded role as a ball handler since Sexton hasn't developed his vision yet. I think Cedi knows that too. Cedi and Sexton's role have expanded since we moved Burks and Hood.

A few months ago, I called this kid "Young BS." My apologies, Collin. You've got game. Now, let's just find a better nickname.

Since the break, he's averaging 21 pts and nearly 3 assists per game. If by maybe year 3, he's able to go for an average of 24 and 6, then we'll really have something.

Along with a new nickname, let's find some defense and court vision. I have faith.

I was encouraged looking at Fox the other night . He has better vision than Collin, but I didn't see any passes that Collin was incapable of . He isn't a Trae Young type creating something out of nothing, Fox draws the defense and finds the open man. Collin is capable of that and when he does get assists, that is how he does it . He can watch film and figure out where the help will come from and get it to his guys .

As far as the Larry, Cedi stuff. I think Larry clearly 0refers to pass to Clarkson. Cedi I think wants to create and he knows if he gets it to Collin he is unlikely to get it back. I want to see those 2 passing to each other more. They can be deadly in the open floor together. When the ball was hopping with those 2 and Love it looked great and each one got better opportunities.

When they came to Portland in January, I could see why others may not like his attitude by the way he was acting when he would get pulled out of the game. Even Cavs fans were yelling down “calm down Sexton” and Channing would constantly be talking to him. So yes, early on, he may have been a veterans annoyance.

What I like is it feels as though Sexton gets shots in the flow of the game.

If he gets 28-32 minutes this year, I think he’s a lock to average 16 points/game.

Might be on like 43%/33% splits, but it’s a lock.
So I was off on the three ball, as that has progressed nicely.

Pretty close for a July projection.

16 ppg on 43% shooting.
