Favors and Harris to Utah for Deron Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Otis has been doing both. . . this team will be fairly competitive for the next year or two (maybe an ECF appearance if they get lucky) and by the time Dwight's contract is up the team will most likely have the $$$ to sign both Dwight and another max FA.

The only teams I'm worried about grabbing Dwight are the Thunder and Clippers, however I'm pretty sure Sterling is going to screw it all up eventually
Right, but that's similar to the Nuggets to a degree... The Nuggets were remaining competitive (with no chance at a title) but without the ability to land a top tier talent in the future, the situation turned sour.... I agree that the Magic will remain competitive, but after being the "future" as many were proclaiming a couple seasons ago--and seeing the excitement and hype these other players are getting in these new situations, you have to wonder how much patience Dwight has while being competitive on a team that is probably going to be a 4th, 5th seed going forward for the next few seasons ? Between now and then it has the potential to get real sour--- especially since ESPN and all these other media outlets will be looking for the next guy on the move and start that campaign...

As I mentioned before, Lopez can't play PF and would be gone. . . as far as the NBA being all over it, unless they had actual evidence, they would have no case. And really, it could end up being in Arenas' best interests as he would be playing for a ring, perhaps make more money (granted over a longer period), and maybe even clear his image as he grows old and near retirement. It's not out of the realm of possibility, I wouldn't rule it out.

and even if Arenas didn't do it, Orlando could buy out Redick's contract and have $38mil in cap space. If they could move Duhon/QRich they'd have enough money to sign DWill to a max, and re-sign Dwight. But right now this doesn't mean anything because we don't know how the next CBA is going to look like
Your reason for Lopez/Dwight not working is because "he can't guard PFs." That Shard guy couldn't either and yet the Magic were still contending. It's not a perfect fit, but that team would be a lot better overall than just pairing up with the Magic scraps.

Arenas restructuring his deal is extremely unlikely because of how much he is owed. He is owed like $43M over 2 years. To make that up, the first year in his "new deal" would have to be $10M+. That's not enough of a pay cut to make salaries work for D-Will.

With Hedo, Arenas, Reddick, Nelson, Bass.....it's just not going to be possible to make Orlando a better option than NJ, esp when NJ has a significant market advantage.

Deron Williams is livid about the trade and has reportedly refused to board a plane bound for New Jersey. Sadly, he will have to accept his fate - trade is finalized.

Maybe if he didn't run his mouth about going to NY after this contract is over and chase Sloan out of town, he'd still be in Utah and happy. He deserves this and then some.

Man I hope JayZ starts to get pissed at Lebron because nobody wants to go to NJ and it's all Lebron's fault.

Shard was one of the best help defenders at the PF position in the last two years (around 94 percentile according to synergy sports). Only thing Lewis wasn't great at was guarding bigger PFs like ZBo, but that was about it. Lopez would get killed trying to chase PFs out in the perimeter.

And really, the only thing the Nets have over the Magic is market. . . Magic team is years better than the Nets. Oh, and if Arenas opted out and the Magic tried to reconstruct, the Magic would have around $23 million in cap space and if they bought out Redick they'd have like $17million in cap space, which is PLENTY to get Dwill, give Arenas over $10 million, Dwight, and still re-sign guys like Redick, Nelson (great backup for DWill) and Bass/Anderson.

Well, the difference between the Nuggets and Magic, besides the Magic making consecutive ECF trips (while the Nuggets did it once and got bounced from the 1st round all the other times), is that the Magic should have the ability to sign another FA with Dwight. . . this is why I'm not freaking out just yet.

These super-teams may be a good thing for us. We aren't likely to compete for another 4-5 years when most of these teams will be breaking up or getting older. In the meantime they'll be selling the farm to win RIGHT NOW (like we have been) and we should be able to get a lot of valuable assets.

Not to mention they'll be kicking the snot out of us every night so we are promised high lottery picks.

What does a super team have to do with the Nets? That team, as of today, is far, far worse than the Jazz were yesterday.

The Jazz WILL make another significant move. There is no way on God's green Earth that they are hanging on to all of their PF/C options: Millsap, Kirilenko, Fesenko, Okur, Jefferson, AND Favors? NAAH.

I think the talk we were hearing yesterday concerning the TPE was with Utah/Jefferson to the Cavs. A year too late but I would still welcome it. It just makes too much sense. Deron gets traded, Sloan peaces out, it's time to blow that thing up over there.

They acquired the Nets' 1st rounder this year and GSW's 1st next. I just don't see them holding on to him!

I have this feeling the owners banded together over the all-star weekend and agreed these prima donnas should stop. Next is probably Chris Paul.

What sense does it make for the Cavs?

I totally agree. Why do we want a "pseudo-star" that may take us out of the 2012 lotto and won't be here when we are good again? It will only make this process slower and more painful.

It still amazes me that the Nets came away from this deadline with a better player than the Knicks while giving up less than they would have. Good first deadline for the Russian (whether he pulled the trigger or not).
