B- for the Wolves?

Minnesota could have lost Love for nothing and instead get two prospects (one of which has a huge ceiling) and a proven role player. If they don't get an A+ on this deal, I'm baffled by your logic. They weren't getting Klay, no way they could do better than Wiggins. Sheesh.

We get a high grade, maybe a B+ or A- since we did lose Wiggins and a pick. But we of course got far and away the best player in the trade.

I vote A for the Cavs. It is extremely rare that you have to ability to acquire a YOUNG proven All-Star. The Cavs had to take advantage of it. Also to a certain extent Minnesota knew that the Cavs would over pay a bit to assure that they got Love after LeBron signed. Bennett has huge question marks and Wiggins is still an unknown. You can not pass up opportunities to win now. You never know when you will be in a position to do so again. Im glad the Cavs didn't end up taking on extra salary and or give up more than one pick. They kept the Memphis pick also which is huge for flexibility down the road. The only way this trade does grade out at an A is if for some reason Love leaves next off season. Then it is a disaster obviously.

The other interesting thing about this trade is we didn't use any of the non-guarenteed contract players we acquired from Utah. Could they now be moved for a serviceable big man to help take some pressure off of the Perimeter guys and also Andy.

Minnesota gets B They get Wiggins, Bennett and Young which is exciting but they didn't get any draft picks for the future and really didn't free up any cap space which in these type of trades they should be trying hard to do. But overall how can you complain about getting last two number one picks, one whom projects as a potential superstar and also they get a veteran in Young who is under rated in my opinion.

Philly I guess gets a B they get a couple role players, one whom is extremely close to Embiid and pick up a first round pick for a guy who was on his way out shortly. Not like they are competing anytime soon.

I understand the benefit of Love..young top 3 PF..but I also wanted the bigger SG in Wiggins and what he brings to the table.
Was not too concerned about Bennett...good part ,Cavs team pretty intact, and still have assets to use.

But it just appears that other teams didn't get back what TWolves did when their big stars were traded.

Did we get significantly better? yup. A+

I was against trading Wiggins. I thought he seemed like a guy who would rarely be injured, and might hit superstardom. I'm a gambler and wanted to roll the dice instead of go for the "sure thing". I also have to admit that i was looking forward to a couple of years getting to contention while the team was growing. Getting better in the playoffs and progressing further the following year. We have championship aspirations this year now, and while that is great, the ride of becoming a contender was really awesome last time. We don't get that this time, we just get an exciting offseason.

I'd say A- if there was one, just because I think we payed MSRP with no warranty. Love will be great on the team though. I am a big fan of rebounding so...

I'm giving it a B, only because why did we have to give up the Miami pick?

B for me personally. Only because we haven't gotten a firm or official commitment out of Love to extend or resign. But we'll assume he will since Gilbert met with Love personally in July and LeBron and him plan to play together long term.

My exact reason why I gave it a B. I fear that there is a chance Love won't re-sign.

An A+. A bird in the hand is always worth two in the bush. He's an all star bird and arguably the best PF in the game and he compliments James' game so nicely. Plus he's only 25. If he was 30, I'd be upset or at least nervous. But he's only 25. The next 5 years are going to be beautiful to watch. As an aside, I love the James haters out there conflicting themselves with their rationales for hating on James some more. The same idiots that have been saying that Kyrie and Love were not good players because they never got their teams to the playoffs are now saying James needs all stars to win? I realize haters are just simple minded morons, but that act of mental gymnastics is pretty impressive. Again, I love this trade. As others surely will, so I will too be watching Wiggins and sees how his career progresses. But the truth remains that we already have the best SF in the world and Love does compliment James' game perfectly. Man, this season cannot start too soon.

An A+??? Really? Is this not the same board where only a sum of 8% (essentially 5.5%) were willing to give up Wiggins for Love in any form of a deal and now people are grading it as A or A+? As Flip Saunders said in his press conference (exactly what I said before), Wiggins was the most highly touted player coming out of high school since LeBron James and has great upside. I've already made my argument why I was not for this trade but that is beside the point. I understand being biased since we are fans of this team but we just gave up two #1 overall picks, 1 with superstar potential and the other slimmed down and playing with confidence for a an expiring contract that was destined to leave his team (don't forget that Miami pick as well). The Timberwolves just landed a potential superstar, a great role player and a wildcard in Bennett for a guy that was guaranteed to leave their team, the Timberwolves won this deal, I'd give them the A+.

I think it's fair to say that for most of us, our opinions of the situation evolved. I think that's normal. More facts presented themselves as time went on and a lot of us have admitted we were wrong, tacitly anyway, and changed our opinion. Which, btw, just so happens to align with any national opinion I've seen. It would seem that you, otoh, have refused to budge from your initial opinion, even in the tsuami of evidence that is available to you. You seem to believe that makes your thoughts on this better somehow, by calling all of the opposing opinions biased- but you'd be wrong. As I stated, the national media seems to agree this was a great trade for the Cavs- and it is possible for both teams to have 'won' this trade.. something you don't seem to understand here. Both teams won this trade.. one team, the Cavs, will have a more immediate return on this trade, but hopefully it works out for both teams.

I guess I just fail to see how your thought processes and arguments are lagging a month behind.. it's been explained repeatedly on this board, and elsewhere, why this is a great move for the Cavs.. in fact it's blindingly obvious at this point. The reasons why have been explained to you, whether you want to see it or not.

(A) cause the team didnt gut out itself for a top 5 PF in the league right now, just a potential player whose ball handles I dont like, a bust and a draft pick.

Isnt graded (A+) due to no Dieng.

Remember (A) is already 100, the + are extra bonus points

I dont pretty much give a damn on the short term & long term vision people are talking about round the world on this deal, they keep forgetting that Cavs wants a single championship title now. The rest are icing on the cake.

Man I wanna hear Fox Sports Ohio broadcast when the team plays in the championship series

Actually, an A, at least from where I come from, is 93-96.99. An A+ is a 97 or higher.

A+
Kevin Love makes Cleveland an instant Finals contender. Something Wiggins, Bennett and Miami s #1 did not. Remember when we were looking for a stretch 4? Well now we have one, arguably the best in the NBA.

I didn't want to trade Wiggins but this still gets an A from me

The Cavs are looking directly into a 6 year championship window, Kyrie is 22, Love is 25, Lebron is 29. They have some future assets and have proven themselves to be a FA destination. If they managed to keep Wiggins, sure it would be an A+, but we know how damn hard it is to get to championship contention, so any trade that lets you do that, while keeping the ability to improve the team over the next few years has to be an A.

If you play hardball and keep Wiggins, then maybe Love will come next year, but chances are, we wouldn't have the cap space, and there would be a ton of teams to compete with.
