I went with an A, I have learned in sports you take the proven talent now, and you go all in on owning a title. We got luck that Love is 25 he is not a guy who only gives us 1-3 years to contend, but gives us 6-7 years maybe more if KI and Dion keep developing.

A. Would be an A+ if he would have signed an extension.

Personally a c+ or b-. If Love signs next season, A+. If he doesn't, obviously an F.

What if we win a title but he doesnt sign next summer? Still and F?

And before you say yes, its been 50 years and 3 sports (so 140 years or so total) since the last Cleveland championship. Most of us on here would trade our own grandmother for a title.

Then it would be a C for me.
If only because Andrew Wiggins has star potential and is on a rookie contract, locked up for at least seven years. So if he was gonna be used in a trade it would have been better used on a guy who could help us contend for a championship for more than one year.

I see we're still pretending LeBron and Love dont have a prior relationship and dont have this thing all planned out. Or that the odds arent extremely slim he would leave in the first place, because basketball reasons. Or that he cant make the most money here. I guess some people cant enjoy anything. Or just enjoy trolling.

Look, people are well within their rights to be skeptical, especially in this town. But if you cant get excited about this trade, and all you can focus on is what we gave up, why even be a fan? This is the team we've all been hoping and praying for. I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of this season's championship run (and probably another half-decade of them too).

The "one year" stuff is beyond dumb. Honestly, take it somewhere else.

It doesn't factor in because he's here for more than one year. There was no possible way for him to be traded here and sign an extension. You can't sign an extension with two years left on your contract. Anyone who says he's here for one year is either stupid or trolling. Period. Take it to one of the dumb boards.

I took no offense. :p Saying anyone who thinks _______ is dumb is not the same thing as saying "you're stupid". It's less aggressive. I just don't want my enjoyment of this team ruined by having to hear people constantly harp on something that's never going to be a problem. Just enjoy it.

I'm not pretending anything. I even argued in one of the other threads about how Love is staying here long-term. But the the poster I replied to asked the question "What if", so I answered what I would think in that hypothetical scenario.

Then it is a B+. I can't see the team winning the first year, but if they do, and Love leaves, I won't even be mad.

Just can't see love leaving more money, contender and Lebron. Would be mad on his part.

Did anyone here who doesn't subscribe to revisionist history really think Lebron was going to leave originally? I'm sure there were backroom conversations and promises made to Gilbert by Lebron as well, or you would not have seen the type of letter that Gilbert wrote (acting like he was betrayed).

I remember being really worried during the playoffs that we were going to lose Lebron because I looked at the team around him and it was maxed out. I remember thinking that if it were me, I'd leave too. And when the "announcement" actually took place, I remember thinking the longer this goes, the more I believe Lebron is gone. When he finally said it, I was pissed, but not terribly surprised. The CAVS were not designed to win, and could not trade to win. The cupboard was bare.

If this year doesn't go the way we would all hope it does, I could EASILY see Love leaving money on the table for a team that he thinks stands a better chance of winning.

What team is he going to go to that gives him a better chance of winning than playing next to LeBron James?

I just don't see what teams are going to have cap space that can provide a better situation for him than playing next to literally the best player in the league and a guy who is a lock for top five all-time, along with one of the best young point guards in the league and a talented supporting cast mixed with both young players (Waiters, Thompson, Delly, Harris) and veterans (Miller, Varejao, Marion). Who else can offer anything close to that?

And that's before you take into account that he'd have to take less money to play with a probably inferior cast of players.
