Jared Cunningham

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I love Delly (and he was great today), but this Jared guy is much more of a threat offensively (penetration and from the outside), and i think that it may be wiser to keep him for the rest of the season.

EDIT: Unless they can find a team to take Harris for free. I have to imagine they are lowkey looking around for someone to take Harris off their hands.

If Cunningham plays focused, intense D while in the game, I think a Harris trade scenario is likely. At some point between now and January, as injuries happens and teams get a feel for what they have and don't have, there will likely be a team willing to take Harris, especially in a league where the 3 pt shot or the threat of the 3 point shot has become the primary offensive dynamic in the NBA. The Cavs already have it in spades, so Harris is just not needed the way they thought he might be way back at the time of drafting him.

I think the cavs will not only look to do this to potentially save the 2-3 million that a 1 million guaranteed player in the 15th spot would add in taxes, but also to keep an open roster spot.

As one of or the favorite to win the Finals, we will always be attractive to the players who are bought out later in the year, so having an open spot may be on their mind.

I think they trade Harris for cash or something like that.

Gotta get him some garbage so he can hit some 3's. Why they kept saying stuff like "best guy at training camp".

Cunningham and Delly play pretty well together. Good defensive backcourt to close blowouts lol.

I want to see a Jared Cunninham highlight reel from tonight. Not even kidding.

What's stopping them from just cutting Joe Harris?

And so would the Cavs. Jared is just as young, plays in the rotation, Joe doesn't. It would be absolutely stupid to cut him and not Joe.

I actually think this kid can really play too. I am not going to get carried away on how good he is. He definitely has the talent to be a productive player in this league. Some guys just take longer to figure it out.

Whiteside and Danny Green for example.

I love the John Starks comparison. I am not at all saying he'll be that good, but his game kinda reminds me of Starks. One of my all-time favorite players.

If he's half as good as Starks was I'd be stoked.

Joe Harris is going to have to show something before a team gives up anything for him, even a nominal amount.

One thing the Cavs haven't used at this point is any of the ~$3.4M they are permitted to use in trades. So they could send out some money with Harris as a small inducement. Cavs would receive the obligatory top 55 protected pick in return, and would save some luxury tax money.

Only makes sense if Cunningham shows he deserves to stay on the team. It's premature to say that. It would also have to make sense from a locker room perspective. But if the sentiment in the locker room is that Cunningham should stay over Harris, that's a factor too.

One thing I will say about him is that he does move well off the ball.

Harris is guaranteed and counts against the tax, but if we are willing to spend, then nothing.

But we might have to keep Cunningham, he is just playing to good.

He is kind of version of Danny Green, coming on after being cut several times.

Well, him getting meaningful minutes shows just how the coaches feel about him...sure the front office is noticing that.
