Obviously not, but it has been 9 drafts since that once in a generation talent was drafted, so it's not impossible that a once in a generation talent shows up. Then again it was almost 20 years between Jordan and LBJ.

Jordan to Lebron was almost 20 years but Wasn't Jordan still playing (Last year I think) when another "Once in a generation" type player (Kobe) Bryant was drafted?

Yes he was, but I wouldn't really call Kobe a once in a generation talent like LeBron and Jordan. Don't get me wrong, Kobe is a great player, but he isn't on their level from a pure talent standpoint. The only players that are are Shaq, and Wilt. But I guess that still proves your point as Jordan was still playing when Shaq was drafted obviously.

a lot of you are going to call me crazy but i think kevin durant will end up being a once in a generation player.

To get back to Kyrie (the subject of this thread). Do you think Kyrie gets a triple-double this year? I like how he comes back to get those loose ball rebounds but I think he is quick enough to get more. It is a no brainer that to see him getting a double-double but any guesses on if and or when he gets a triple?

Once he gets into better shape and is given more minutes I expect him to come close or get one.

Great scorer, but that's it. His defense is ok, better than Melo's, his passing is sub par, and his rebounding is good, but no great (especially considering he is 6'11"). Like I said with Kobe great player (or potential to be), but not a once in a generation talent.

i think when its all said and done kevin durant will be one of if not the best scorers in nba history. thats a once in a generation talent to me. especially if they get a passing point guard. hes clutch too. and lebron is a great player, but im not sure how you are defining once in a generation player

Not crazy at all. Dirk is pretty similar statistically, but watching the games they don't play the same way at all. To find a guy with Durant's height and athleticism scoring in so many ways is extremely, extremely rare. It's unlikely someone with that skill set will come along any time soon.

Kobe has the POTENTIAL to be great? Kobe's great and has been great for much of his career. He's only not "once-in-a-generation" because Jordan existed.

Gonna be awful tough to stay healthy for so many years and pass Kareem... but given how young Durant came into the league and the fact that he hasn't had any major injuries yet...he's on track to do it in some time in his 20th year in the league :chuckles:

I believe you have misread. He implied "Like Kobe, Durant is a great player (or at least Durant has the potential to be a great player).

I went back and tried to read it that way, and can't. Mdog...clarify.

More Kyrie Irving talk. I want to read more about how 3/4 of this forum wants to slob his knob at the moment.

Hey PS...remember when I took Kyrie and his mom out to a dinner a couple years ago? I told everyone this was coming. And I'm sure everyone forgot how I roomed with Harrison Barnes and Perry Jones and told you all they'd be busts.

Never get any respect on here for my inside info...

I'm just enjoying all the change in attitude about Kyrie. After he was drafted, it was all "he'll be a good player but never great" etc etc. Now, the guy is going to be Chris Paul on steroids without the knee injuries.

I for one said Kyrie would be a stud from day one. And TT still sucks a fat one.

Did he help you dig her up too?
