That would be really saavy if we just got Spieghts to flip him to a good team for a 1st.......A move like that would be some level 10 general managing right there.

But either way Spieghts is a fairly decent player. He no doubt raises our talent level

Cavs.com just added interviews with Speights and Ellington from after practice today...and damn does Speights sound dumb. :chuckles:

Marreese Speights can't be that dumb. He's one of the few people in the entire world fluent in Ron Harper.

Not every funny comment ends up as funny as originally intended. That's true.

But I'll tell ya what...

Point out where I explicitly stated Ron Harper was dumb and you'll win a cookie, because frankly, I never said that.

To my own ears, the way Speights enunciates his words reminded me of Ron Harper. Nothing more, nothing less.

Bench Zeller, start Speights. Zeller with his lack of strength is more suited to the bench anyways, and Speights will make things easier on our guards by finishing at a higher percentage. And damn, for a guy with a reputation as a poor defender he absolutely locked down the paint in the 4th.

I posted this in the game thread, but I'll put it here also.

Say what you will about Hickson vs Speights, I never saw Hickson hustle like that tonight or stay in the game mentally when being down by huge numbers. Not to mention in the 4th quarter Speights really locked down the paint on defense and out rebounded Larry Sanders.

I like him down low. He physically dominated and he was pretty solid mentally.

If he keeps that up, then it's another home run for Chris Grant.

Actually wouldn't be surprised if this happens within the next coming few games, Speights will still need to get the practice hours in and get coach Scott to learn to trust him more, but it's something I could see happening sooner or later this year.

Speights has the physicality zeller lacks. He's our new tractor. He has a natural ability to score the ball.

Speights provides some inside muscle, and area where the Cav's bench has been sorely lacking. Leuer, Samuels, Jones, Walton just get out-muscled, as does Tyler. Very impressive debut.

I love having a legit physical big man who can impose his will on another player. This was a great debut. Hope he can keep it up.
