Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We have our big 3 and yeah, they all have very high skill levels and natural ability but you really need a few guys that genuinely piss off the opposition. A guy that will just pester the shit out their man until they are so frustrated that they slip off their game. Really just somebody with a continuous motor that will beat his man to the ball out of sheer effort, will, and determination. Delly has a high bball IQ, just understands the game really well and isn't a shoot first kind of guy. He's essentially the perfect compliment to Dion and he is exactly the type of player that Blatt loves. No surprise that Dion was playing like a fringe all star last season when he was paired up with Delly and has performed better since he has been back in the last 2 games. Great for team chemistry, easy to root for, and sets the perfect example for his teammates on the floor. Q-Tip is correct as Keys was all over the scouting of Delly and he was absolutely right on all fronts.

agree Splitz.. honestly I think minus a Rim Protector this team is great.. have shooters to spread the floor and you have guys like Delly,TT,and Andy that just work their asses off every night...you have veterans that help out the young guys and all have a high basketball IQ... I'd still love a Rim protector and Allen to take Price's spot and either Haywood or Lou's spot on this team.. maybe a wing defender.. not sure how that all works out but this team is playing together better and their effort for the most part has been excellent

Wow that highlight reel is awesome. I was loving his performance last night and there were still plays I didn't see him make on that reel. We really need to keep him however we can because he can help us win long term. Future DPOY! He is so good in so many ways, but his ball denial is just a thing of beauty.

I tell my 15 year old daughter (a PG) to watch Delly and Andy. Smart, intense, hustling, team basketball. Thats how to play the game i tell her. I have as much fun watching them play as I do the Big three.

It is cool you guys remember I was all over Delly a year before he joined the Cavs, but it is equally important to remember Jigo was wrong.

Seriously, I just really liked those St. Mary's squads. Delly seemed to be the smartest player I had seen in a long time. And the leadership was... well, you guys see it now. I kept seeing Draft express rank him at the bottom of the top 100 prospects and it just never made sense. If you talk production out of a 6'4 guard, he was right there with any combo guard. He just happened to be a pudgy white dude.

Legler actually made a really good point in that ESPN clip: The elite teams are going to trot out three All Star level players, but the teams that win championships have one or two guys like Delly out there with the stars.

I'm lucky that I get to watch a lot of the Golden State Warriors this year, who are playing phenomenal basketball. While Klay Thompson and Steph Curry have been filthy, their third most important player has been Draymond Green. Here's another guy who played four years in college, everyone saw he can play multiple positions but doesn't have elite athleticism. There comes a point where scouts have to throw all this upside and potential out the window and draft players who play well right now. Delly was one of those Draymond Green types in college who everyone thought had hit his ceiling, but he finds ways to improve on his limitations and just flat out knows how to play.

So the Cavaliers will need healthy star players, but its the guys like Delly who push the team from what we saw three weeks ago into title contenders.

So Delly reminds JBJ of Norris Cole... for the love of god can someone with better photoshop skills than I mock up a picture of Delly with a flat top?

Waiting on LBJ, Blatt, Kyrie, anyone with the team, to make the Delly-Andy comparison noting that Delly is a PG version of Andy.

It's uncanny how similar they are in terms of the impact they have on the game (mostly earlier in Andy's career). Replace Delly's ball movement and passing with Andy's always exceptional screens.

Can't believe it hasn't happened yet.

He did it to LeBron his first game back. :chuckle:

He's actually done it to LeBron & pretty much everyone even pre-injury. It's one of the things I absolutely love about this kid. He's not afraid or intimidated to be the leader as a PG out there.

It also says a lot about him & the respect he has from his teammates, that so much talent & so many vets trust him on the floor as much as they do.

Yes, he has only played 96 minutes, but still:

+/- Per 100 possessions

On-court: +15.8
On-off: +11.6
