2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
a lot of possibilities at 5. I think the pick depends on what they think of Sexton going forward.

Colby White-saw him 4 times this year. Physically he is ready to be a NBA point guard. Great size and even better speed. But like Sexton he is a scorer and not a shooter. They are a like Fox from Sacramento. I would rather have someone like Murray from Denver in Beilein system. I would say Sexton is currently better scorer then White right now but wouldn't be suprised if White becomes better because of his size. White seems more of a true PG then Sexton. They can't start in the same back court but if you told me ur plan was White at ur PG and Sexton is ur 6 man I could see that maybe working.

Culver-only saw him once. Going to be a good pro. Understands the game and has good length/height. Not super athletic or the greatest shooter. If Cavs are committed to Sexton at 1 then Culver is a nice wing to play with him. You will need a good shooter at the other wing.

Garland--if they take him then they don't believe in Sexton.

Reddish--only saw once. I would say he has a higher ceiling then Culver but a lower floor also. He has the potential to be a pretty good scorer in NBA. I see Reddish being able to score 20 some a game. I don't see Culver doing that but Culver will be a better passer, facilitator, and defender. If u told Reddish would put the effort and work to become a better defender and add his ability to score I would worry less about his shot selection and not being a great facilitator. This would also make him easy the best player at 5.

Hayes--just no

Hachimura-saw twice also. I like him just not at 5. Smooth, athletic and a nice facilitator. I don't know if he is a true 3 for the NBA or a 4 who can also play the 3. If I knew he could play the 3 then he would be the pick over Reddish.

Little--saw him 4 times. Guy cant throw it in the ocean if he was standing by it. Freak athlete. I question his intelligence.

Romeo Langford--if he falls out of top ten he is going to be the steal of the draft. I've seen this kid play a lot in AAU and a couple at IU. If he could of come out after HS would of been a top 5 pick. He looks like a NBA 2 guard. Can shoot and get to the rim. I don't know how well he will defend and facilitate but he can score. I know he looked average at IU. I am being told he had dealt with a lot of minor injuries all season and could never get healthy.

IMHO dream scenario would be trading 5 for 8 and 10 then drafting Langford and Hachimura. Lanford gets healthy and is the player he showed before IU and Hachimura is a 3 then u have a nice 1-2-3 u could build on. All with different strengths that fit together and help the others weaknesses.

Kevin Porter Jr. Man he looks like a baller. His shake is so good. Athleticism shooting and handle.
I love Porter Jr too. His basketball skills are off the charts and love his shake and space. I may be confused with someone but I believe he played with Murray in high school. I would pass on RJ though. Concerned on his shooting and the ability to adapt.

yes, only because this draft is shit

The Bennett draft was “shit”. Actually worse than this because not even consensus top 3 players like this year.

That draft produced Steven Adams, CJ McCollum, Oladipo, giannis and gobert.

Cavs drafted Bennett, karesev and Felix.

This draft is going to have good players available, just have to find them.

Sam Smith post lottery mock draft:

5.

Cleveland Cavaliers. Darius Garland, Vanderbilt point guard.

Yes, yes, I know, Collin Sexton. But he stinks. OK, not quite stinks, but not quite a point guard. I think I saw him pass the ball last season, but I am not sure. If you have the Cavs roster, you take the player left who most looks like an NBA All-Star, and Garland has a chance assuming his knee is recovered after meniscus surgery. Plus, with Portland in the conference finals, playing two small, scoring guards suddenly becomes more acceptable.

I do not understand all of this anti sexton stuff
He had a very good rookie season
He will improve in all aspects. Certainly has the work ethic. And as he surrounded by better players the assists will go up
That being said. At this point you take best player available. If it is a pg fine.

Holy shit, Sam Smith is still writing?

Romeo was a 5 star recruit out of HS. He was a much better three point shooter in hs then his freshmen year at Indy. Some guys struggle then shoot much better if they come back for their sophomore season. He has a long way to go, but he has some tools that could make him a good offensive player if he puts it all together. I mean it would not shock me if he had a better career then Hunter or Culver. I don’t think you can expect it, but it is not a crazy scenario at all.
He could also be a bust if he does not put in the time and goes to the wrong environment. He is one of those boom or bust type guys. You would really like to interview him and see him workout and talk to people from his past. If he is a hard worker and he starts shooting the ball better from the outside, you may really have something.

When I watched Langford's highlights I noticed he had a cast on his right hand for most of them. I know he had surgery on his thumb in April for a torn ligament. He played thru the injury and it happened in late November.

I think it's pretty amazing that he could play, finish at the rim, and dribble in traffic with a cast and torn ligament. I would take his HS shooting percentage as closer to his real percentage.

Sam Smith hasn’t been paying very close attention. Sexton doesn’t stink, and playing two small guards is still not acceptable. Getting swept in the Conference Finals is about as good as it GETS for Portland.

Sure - Sexton is not a PG, but he’s shown himself to be a competent shooter and scorer. Still, you can’t have more than one little guy who can’t defend in the line-up at a time. The league is about long, athletic wings now. Draft a long, athletic wing, who can shoot and defend, and preferably create his own shot. I guess Hachimura or Culver or Reddish or White. Barrett and Hunter will probably be gone, and that’s ok. Bol is too much of a risk.

I really think Coby White could share the same backcourt but both need to build up their passing and vision. It wouldn't be a situation where you would want them to share the floor all the time together in the beginning. I don't think it needs to be a starting PG and 6 man situation though. They can share the floor at the beginning and end of the game then swap in for one another for most of their minutes.

Basically we wouldn't need a backup PG and it would benefit everyone to get rid of Clarkson.

Porter jr is a new clarkson/waiters, HARD pass

I have this same concern with Porter Jr, he looks the part to be a good player in the NBA. The concern for me is why did he come off the bench and only play 20 minutes. If he is worth a top 5 pick what was holding him back from being the best player on the USC team? You would assume they would want to lean on that kind of talent.

The same kind of questions came up with Dion Waiters

To be fair, Waiters spent FOUR YEARS not starting, right?

Two years in college. Dion's overall numbers in college are very similar to Kevin Porter Jr. Porter has a better 3 pt percentage though.
