New Orleans Pelicans?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I personally love the name. I am a big fan of teams whose names hold relevance to their city or state and it's history. That is why I love so many college team names, like Gamecocks, Buckeyes, Hoosiers, Sooners, etc.

Well, Hornets belong in Charlotte and Pelicans has some local ties. I think the talk of this being a bad name are overrated. At least there are local ties and the name was not preserved ridiculously, as in the case of the Lakers or Jazz or Dodgers, following a cross-country move. Cleveland baseball team was once called the Naps and the Spiders. Marketing concerns are only part of the equation. I also wouldn't put my finger in that beak for one second.

^ I see that Unibrow in those pics.

This is what I don't get. So every got damn thing in your state is already representing your 'state bird' yet, you think it'd be great idea to also name your only basketball team in the state that as well.

A lot of college teams are named after state items/animals. I don't see why a pro team cant also? Its a very prideful thing to do.

Do you not like the Buckeyes? Guess where their name comes from.

That logo is sharp as hell.

It becomes redundant after a while. Good thing this is not everything in Ohio is named after our state tree/plant.
