Committing $106.7 million to Gordon/Evans/Holiday over the next three years and an additional $22.98 million to Evans & Holiday in the 4th year for a grand total of $129.7 million until 2017 is crazy. Throwing out Gordon's health, Evans' psyche, and the fact that Holiday is most likely a stat stuffer on a bad team, I just don't think these three guards justify that kind of loot. You're talking about three high volume shooters and none of them finished in the top 20 in ppg last year.
Eric Gordon and Brandon Jennings were the only two players in the NBA last year to play in 40+ games and average over 15 ppg yet shoot less than 41% from the field. Holiday finished 2nd in turnovers and 10th in field goal attempts, but only 22nd in total points scored (26th in ppg). Evans surprisingly had his most efficient season yet, but there's no telling how he fits in with those two guards.
How so? You could argue that they just got a bargain for one of, if not the best, backcourt rotations in the league. And the scary part about it is that none of these players are even close to maxing out their potential.
Also I don't think Eric Gordon's injuries are as serious as they seem. As everyone knows he didn't want to be in NO last year. He was really upset that he didn't get to go to Phoenix because NO matched his offer sheet. I think rather than do all he could to get back on the court and play for a Pelicans team that wasn't going anywhere he slacked off in his rehab due to a lack of desire to play. With the new direction this team is headed in I think he'll definitely play more games this season.
This team has a lot of potential. Amazing backcourt. Young frontcourt with lots of potential in Davis and Anderson. And their bench isn't too bad either. If Monty Williams can figure out how to get this team to gel they could really make some noise out in the Western Conference.
I just don't see what separates Eric Gordon & Jrue Holiday from the Monta Ellis & Brandon Jennings experiment (Jrue's #'s are eerily similar to Jennings' and everyone is dogging Detroit for that move).
Last season Ellis & Jennings combined to average 36.7 ppg on 40.8% shooting and 33.8% from three. They averaged a combined 12.5 assists per game and 5.6 to's per game for an A:TO of 2.23. While Gordon and Holiday didn't play together, they averaged a combined 34.7 ppg on 42.2% shooting and 35.0% from three. They also averaged a combined 11.3 assists per game and 6.5 to's per game for an assist to turnover ratio of 1.74. Evans can provide a boost to help their inefficient shooting and turnover #'s, but it's a huge stretch to call them the best backcourt rotation in the league. We'll ultimately see how it plays out this season, but I'm skeptical to say the least.
Am I the only one who thinks these jerseys are completely ugly?
So they finally make the "Hornets" name fucking WORK for them.......
Yes, The "Fleur de Bee" is so fucking perfect - I had to post it TWICE.
Best god damned look/theme/scheme in the NBA since the LBJ era Cavaliers - And they wanna swap it out with that GARBAGE?!?!?!?
