Open Discussion (Cavs + related issues)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Yeah, even though I'm unhappy with tonight, we're still on pace to win like 66 games. We'll be ok.

But we'll need better effort in our next 3 games.

I was a bit curious why we kept hedging their ball handlers so often. If there was any team to ice, it'd be them.

Oh well, every team is gonna have a clunker. So I'll give them this one time pass for a game no one will remember in a few months.

That JR clip though, will go down in infamy.

Bench is old and terrible.

The bench does look weak too me. Weird how dependent we are on Frye off the bench to provide a spark. His ability to shoot over defenses like the Bucks would have been helpful. Still can you really win a title with only two guys on the bench you can count on (Shump and Frye)?

Hopefully Deron Williams gets brought out by the Mavs. Shump is playing well and all but it may be worth trying to move him if you can get an expiring guy like Gay who would be a clear upgrade

If the cavs cant improve bench scoring, why not develop felder and mcrae.. It's early in the season and the cavs have the time to expirement on lineups..

Really stagnant offense against the Bucks. They switched almost everything on defense and they have pretty good iso defenders so it just looked really bad.
To counter that the Cavs had to run some sets and use more off ball screens but they didn't. Really tough game to watch if i'm being completely honest.
They just locked the Cavs completely.

We lost for one reason and one reason only.. Giannis went 13 for 17 for 34 points and 12 rebounds; oh and add in 5 assists and 5 steals to go along with it. Oh and his team was +20 while he was on the floor over a 34 minute span.

We had no answer for him, and that's why we lost the game. If this were a playoff game, we'd have won; but it wasn't and the Cavs weren't interested in playing as though it were.

If LeBron isn't going to take this defensive assignment then who does?

While I could care less about this game; the way we got outplayed by an athletic wing makes me worry about Golden State even more.

Agree with you that our offense could use some extra wrinkles beyond just kicking it out to snipers when things get tough in the middle. We played an energetic and lengthy defence that frustrated it. But that's not to exaggerate the importance of the result. In a real game Lebron would typically be initiating our offense from the post unlike yesterday when he seemed to spend a lot of time at the 3 point line. There was no real tenacity

We also don't have the defensive will to lock down every team in every meaningless regular season game so that too would be different in the playoffs.

Remember that one unplanned play when Love got doubled at the high post area and found a cutting Lebron for a monster jam. There are countless possibilities we can implement with actual offensive sets beyond kick outs to snipers all game

Bucks brought playoff-level intensity from the tip. Cavs didn't feel like matching it. There's your third loss of the season.

My only (very minor) frustration at the moment is Jordan McRae's utter uselessness. Cavs have tried to showcase him here and there, and he's been nothing but awful. He's torpedoed his trade value.

League's gotta be happy that both the Cavs and the Clippers are coming off bad losses heading into Thursday. Intensity won't be an issue.

It's strange to me that the Cavs came out in the 1st quarter with tremendous focus and intensity... and then, what? Did they expect the Bucks to just roll over? It's hard to explain how that happens.

Gotta bounce back tomorrow night.

If I am Lue I run their asses off in practice next time they practice. Oh you want to loose intensity?? Fine we are going to run ladders until you guys get the message...

Yup. Nothing gets through to NBA players better than the coach making them run suicides after a blowout. And if they're really bad you can always make them do wall squats. That'll teach em.

Nah just make them run laps until they pass out. Then make them run laps again...

Most of you guys have been around long enough to have gone through this before. It's hardly the first time the Cavs decided to only play about a quarter of basketball on the road the game before playing one of the top teams.

The answer to Giannis is LeBron coming out of of "chill mode", but don't expect to see that unless the two teams meet in the playoffs.

Agreed. When engaged, this is a defensive assignment that LeBron can handle. Same thing with KD, when the time comes.

Personally, I don't give a shit that he's preserving himself at the moment--I'm glad he is, actually. Regular season basketball is not when we need LeBron busting his ass. I just wish we had a better defensive team built up around him.

I'd just like to see a lot less whining about not getting calls during the game. Staying engaged, LeBron, during the regular season is important, even if going "all out" isn't.
