Our Depth

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Everyone that keeps repeating the mantra "the regular season means absolutely nothing" - I'm writing your name on a list and reminding you of this statement when you're pissed we lost a game to the Kings on some week day January game.

If Andy is healthy he's getting at least 25 mpg. At the cost of most likely TTs minutes. Which imo makes the TT situation hilarious

Trends are Harris will be kept, since he has a contract; Cunningham signed for the 15th spot; TT will renew, sooner or later.

So a roster of:

Kyrie/Mo/Delly
Shump/JR/Cunningham/Harris
LBJ/RJ/JJ
Love/TT
Mozgov/AV/Kaun

With Kaun and RJ showing they can be rotation guys.. and maybe even Jared, Cavs'd have 14 guys who could make the rotation (exception: Harris):

PG - 4 guys who can play the position - Kyrie, Mo, Delly, LBJ;
SG - 7 guys who can play the position - Shump, JR, Cunningham, LBJ, Mo, Kyrie, Delly;
SF - 5 guys who can play the position - LBJ, RJ, JJ, Shump, JR;
PF - 4 guys who can play the position - Love, TT, LBJ, AV;
C - 4 guys who can play the position - Mozgov, TT, AV, Kaun.

That's pretty awesome.

The emergence of another contributor (Cunningham) and 50 bench points (yes, say that to yourself...50 BENCH POINTS) stand out in a demoralizing thrashing in the "Grindhouse" (that nickname can only be used ironically the next time the Cavs come to town.)

Mo's running the offense, RJ is proving to be a more-than-worthy backup for LeBron in a role that Miller failed to fill. Kaun...well, Kaun looked like a clown in garbage minutes, but there's hope!

I'm lovin' this. I'm just aching for Kyrie and Shump to return, and that's when the fireworks bonanza fuse is truly lit.

Keep JR as a starter: the dude stays in "good" JR mode when he plays with other stars. Our record with him in the starting lineup is ridiculous.

That will leave a bench of
Mo
Shump
Delly
RJ
TT
Varejao
Cunningham as injury insurance.

You have guys who can bring offense with Mo and Varejao (who would ever thought I woudl say that) and defense with TT, Shump, and Delly.

That argument makes total sense but I still say we need his firepower in the second unit while we need's Shump's defense in the starting line-up, especially to atone for Kyrie's deficiencies in that area.

I made a joke in the game thread but semi-serious: Blatt should run out a lineup of Lebron, Love, JR, Irving, and Mo when we get healthy. We bombed away on Memphis even with Irving hurt. Defense would suck but team would have one hell of a time trying to cover the 3 point line

I'm eating crow, a bit.

I was not aware the guys we picked up would be that good.

yes, if we had the m last year, I am sure we would have beat GSW, even without ky and love.

I think Blatt is going to have this long rotation and really run these guys.

Esp impressed with Jefferson. Had really fresh legs and can do everything pretty good. Reminds me of why I didn't like him as a star, but as a roleplayer, he is very nice. Finisher, good off ball movement, and 3 threat. His defense isn't as bad as I thought either.

The biggest virtue of having a lineup this deep is the ability to give players multi-game rests without leaving yourself short. March/April, I wouldn't be surprised to see Blatt giving guys an entire week or two off, just to heal up some of those nagging minor injuries that always accumulate.

We all saw what that did for LBJ last year. We'll be able to do it with Moz, Kyrie, Love, etc..

This team could be an absolute beast in the playoffs.

Please people do not forget the Trade Exception that the Cavs have. THIS will give us tons of flexibility to add another $10 Million player that will certainly help the Title run. A Jeff Green would be perfect, a 3 that can play some 4, shoot and defend!
If healthy and trade exception used:
PG-Irving, Mo-Wil, Delly
SG-Smith, Shumpert, Harris
SF-Lebron, JEFF GREEN?, Jefferson, Jones
PF-Love, Thompson
C-Mosgov, Varejao, Kahn....
WOW!

In looking for potential targets, probably best to avoid staring too longingly at players on obvious playoff teams.

Cavs have nothing to offer so the only guys at their disposal are salary dumps and when the salary cap goes up $20M and the Salary floor goes up a commensurate amount, that leaves significantly less obvious targets, particularly when both conferences may have dogfight for last playoff spots. East is REALLY bunched up at the bottom.

But I'm sure we could grab Swaggy P .....

Great post. Some may disagree with this, but I'd run Cunningham, too. I'm no scout, but kid looks to me like he could be a solid piece. Trying not to get overly excited after 1 game, but man that was something last night. We had almost every single player giving solid minutes and contributions - and not much energy was wasted. Just a great game to watch.

I'd let these guys play (minus Andy b/c he makes me so nervous - but love to watch him) to keep everyone fresh for the playoffs.

However, it is a long season...we'll have other injuries along the way, I'm assuming.
