Penn State AD Tim Curley faces charges (Paterno and PSU president are now out)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Penn State AD Tim Curley faces charges

What?

Did he know that or something, I mean...the AD is at fault.

But was Paterno supposed to predict that happening or something?

What would lead him to believe that nothing was being done about this? Or really, why wouldn't Paterno believe them when they told him everything was fine and it turned out not to be a big deal?

Everything was fine? It was going around before this happened, that the guy was fondling boys. They called the charity to worn them about the guy, and he unexpectedly retired in 1999 but Joe Pa was supposed to believe everything was on the up and up? Joe Pa was at best burying his head in the sand. Is that how you would have handled it if you were the head coach? If so, might need to re-examine your moral compass.

JoePa's job is to report it to his superiors.

I can't imagine he knew his superiors were the morally corrupt...Or had any reason to assume they were.

I know that if I knew a guy for 30+ years and he was accused of something like this, my initial reaction would not be guilty until proven innocent. And I can't imagine you would either.

If that's burying your head in the sand, I can't see it's nothing were not all capable of if we were in the same position.

I can't imagine anyone who would be more devestated by this than Paterno himself...

socially inept boobie:

Doesn't understand basic concepts of right and wrong in regards to serial child molestation.

Hangs around Browns and Buckeyes forums to feel like internet warrior.

Re: Penn State AD Tim Curley faces charges

Allegations about this guy started in 1996 or so, before the guy retired as a coach. Paterno knew about this way before he was told about the shower incident. He did nothing back then. He did nothing in 2002. He has done almost nothing about it. This guy has walked around a free man for years with quite a few covering for his ass.

Says the guy who admitted following me around a message board to post stuff like this....Clearly, nothing socially wrong with that.

It's not like I'm proclaiming innocence for anyone...but here you are...blabbering away.

I really would like to know what is socially inept about anything I've said.

I mean...I understand that you're just trolling and trying to rouse me up or what have you.

But I'd actually be concerned if you were serious...

Re: Penn State AD Tim Curley faces charges

Why would Paterno not trust his AD?
His trust sure as hell should've come into question when Curley didn't do anything. It's not like it was some sort of ambiguous allegation. The GA claimed he saw anal sex being performed on a child ffs. That's not exactly something that could be easily misunderstood. When nothing came of Paterno passing it up the chain to the AD, it's pretty obvious that the correct course of action is to ask WTF happened and closely monitor Sandusky's future actions.

BUT why would he need to rely on the AD to handle it in the first place? Yes, passing it up the chain (like the GA did) was the correct decision by the book. But again, this is child molestation. Child molestation is something that should be reported to the police immediately, no matter how long you've known the person involved and how much you trust them. Whether it's true or not is something for the police to decide.

I simply can't understand how anyone with any sort of morals could have known about this and not alerted the actual police and not just their immediate superior. That goes for the GA (who should've stopped the rape that fucking second), Paterno, and the AD. Simply mind-boggling.

So glad I graduated at a University where we just sell our own shit for tattoos rather than raping children.

No good guys in this entire story

Isn't the Associate Dean the guy in charge of campus police? I mean, if he was passing it up the ladder the AD's job should be to conduct such an investigation. Much like if something were to happen at work your first move would be to go to Human Resources.

I'd be curious to know if Paterno or the GA were under the assumption that is what was going on.

Hate the fact that I'm interested in what happened, I'd much prefer to never have read any of this.

It's almost indicative of the way the NCAA expects matters like this to be handled...Emotionless, without regard for the severity of what is actually occuring.

Re: Penn State AD Tim Curley faces charges

The fact that these bastards took so much time to report things up the ladder and follow up is grounds for firing. GA and Dad know on Friday and wait until Sat to report to JoePa. JoePa waits until Sunday to report to AD. AD waits days to meet with GA.

How can this timeline exist? Don't these people have consciences?

How can these people sit on their asses when all that happens is Sandusky's keys get taken away?

How can the GA not have kicked the guy's ass on the spot?

This makes me sick and heads need to roll.

Re: Penn State AD Tim Curley faces charges

"As my grand jury testimony stated, I was informed in 2002 by an assistant coach that he had witnessed an incident in the shower of our locker room facility. It was obvious that the witness was distraught over what he saw, but he at no time related to me the very specific actions contained in the grand jury report."

Doesnt appear as though Paterno was given the full details of what happened.

Re: Penn State AD Tim Curley faces charges

Do you need the full details when someone comes in distraught about seeing a guy with some little kid in a shower?

I'm not saying passing it up the ladder was wrong, but given the accusations there's no way that's the only thing you do. You call the police yourself and ensure they are fully aware of the matter. You thoroughly follow up with the AD and the GA. You don't just pass it up the food chain and forget about it.

If something like this happened at work, I'd be calling the police as well 100% of the time. Not doing that is just ridiculous.

LOL IS HE REALLY TRYING TO PIN IT ON THE GA?!?

IF SOMEONE CLAIMS THEY SAW A COACH IN THE SHOWER AND SAID PERSON IS NOW DISTRAUGHT OVER THE INCIDENT, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO FIND OUT WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED.

paoenrapoerngaeponrg

lord that is so insanely frustrating and just such an awful excuse. if someone comes to you with any sort of accusations involving 10 year old boys and the showers while you are a pillar of the community, how do you not take the matter seriously? in what scenario would 10 year old boys being in the shower not be worthy of notifying the police?
