He has a house in Miami. Has two little kids. Could be why he's in a caravan

Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk is a former teammate and close friend of quarterback Peyton Manning. That is why you have to take Faulk's opinion seriously when he says Manning will not go to the NFC and the Miami Dolphins are potential favorites.

ManningFaulk seemed adamant Wednesday that you can pretty much cross off 16 NFC teams, including the Arizona Cardinals and Washington Redskins, who are both considered strong contenders to sign Manning.

"If you're in the NFC, you're out. The Mannings (won't) play a regular-season game," said Faulk, also referring to quarterback Eli Manning of the New York Giants. "They're not gonna stop each other from going to the Super Bowl. Meeting in the Super Bowl? How great would that be for the family?"

Faulk continued by saying "There's no way, there's no way, there's no way" when NFC teams were mentioned. Faulk didn't seem as sure where Manning will land but mentioned Miami as a possibility.

"Matt Flynn just doesn't do it," Faulk said. "(He's) not Aaron Rodgers, let's be honest."

If Faulk is accurate about his good friend, Peyton Manning, this is an interesting development. Teams like the Dolphins and New York Jets would basically have their competition cut in half, especially with strong suitors like Arizona, Seattle and Washington out of the mix. We will see if Faulk's prediction holds true.

Peyton Manning’s camp has already heard from 12 teams

AP
NFL teams are wasting no time in declaring their interest in free agent quarterback Peyton Manning.

Of the NFL’s 32 teams, 12 of them contacted Manning’s representatives in the hours after the Colts made his release official, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Among the teams that have reportedly reached out are the Cardinals, Seahawks, Broncos, Dolphins, Redskins, Titans and Jets. At least five other teams that are keeping their intentions quiet for now have also privately reached out.

Manning said there is no favorite because he has had no time to start looking ahead, but that he expects that process to start soon.

“I literally have not had one conversation with anyone about these teams,” Manning told reporters upon arriving in Miami. “But now I realize that process has to start. I haven’t thought about teams.”

The process will include Manning showing teams that he can throw, perhaps at individual workouts or perhaps at a pro day-style workout that every team is welcome to attend. While Manning said on Wednesday that his throwing is improving, he didn’t say it’s back to where it was before last year’s neck surgeries. So it’s not clear whether he’s ready to throw for teams now.

But when he is ready, at least 12 teams want to be there.

If he signs in Miami, that means Flynn's chances to us rise significantly, IMO.

Does Washington have interest in Flynn?

After playing a season with Grossman/Beck under center, I think they will be looking for any sort of upgrade lol. Shannahan has to be getting desperate now. Dude hasn't really done a thing since the 90s besides that playoff run with Plummer.

If true, this would seem to leave a big opening for the Browns to get Flynn:

As for the Dolphins, the team has yet to express remote interest in free-agent quarterback Matt Flynn so far, even though Flynn just finished playing for new Miami head coach Joe Philbin. A team source said that’s because Ross has told general manager Jeff Ireland to put the full-court press on Manning.

Peyton Manning prefers to stay in the AFC but is open to playing in the NFC.

Its gonna come down to the money IMO

Browns not interested in Manning

Browns GM Tom Heckert says team "not really" interested in Peyton Manning.

If true, this would seem to leave a big opening for the Browns to get Flynn:

I understand Manning's role in this, but if Miami is not pursuing Flynn at all, that worries me. I fear we are looking at the next overachieving-backup-QB-turned-mediocre-starting-QB, a la: Rob Johnson, Kevin Kolb, Scott Mitchell, Gus Frerotte and Jon Kitna. I suppose on the high end he could turn into Matt Schaub or Matt Cassel, but his old OC showing basically no interest is concerning.

It's hillarious listening to the guys on 92.3. They are seething at the fact that the Browns wont pick up the phone and at least try a pitch for Manning.

What's amazing is that now that he's been released and the Manning FA frenzy has begun, a lot of people seem to be ignoring the most important thing - his health. Manning had 4 neck procedures in the last 19 months. Colts medical staff said a 5th procedure, likely another fusion, is inevitable. I honestly don't think he's going to play another 16 games in his career. I also think there's a 20% chance he never plays in a regular season NFL game again. He can say that he's back to normal, but he'll never be back to "normal". Being NFL game-ready is tough for a 36 year old without these surgeries. Neck, spine, nerve damage is all serious and dangerous stuff. If I were his father or wife, I'd lay on the field to prevent him from ever taking another snap in an NFL game. He had an incredible career...it's time to think about his kids and the next 50 years of his life.
Toughest thing for Superstars is knowing when to say when.

Are you talking about Kylie and Booms? Those guys are total asshats who think anybody who disagrees with them are morons. They were saying that they thought the Colts may keep Manning because he has another 5 years left in his career. :chuckles:

Actually is was Baskin and Phelps. In 30 minutes of shredding our mgmt and yelling about how Manning would make us interesting around the NFL, an instant playoff team, put us on MNF and make us a draw for FA's, they never mentioned his neck once. I turned it off.

We're doomed now
