Pluto: Childress, WCO, and the draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Allow me to help you:

We have gotten two good players (Ward and Haden)

One good backup QB (Colt)

A starting guard (Lauvao)

So...what is your problem with this again? 3 starters and a backup at a valuable position.

You really think Colt is going to be with this team going forward if he doesn't get another opportunity to start?

A good offense also keeps the defense off the field, as well as the other team's offense. I feel like in a way, improving our offense will improve our already somewhat solid defense.

I'll admit I under-sold the success of Lauvao, who I probably should have classified as a middle-of-the-road, unspectacular starting guard. Greasyspread just ignoring that he was even in the 2010 draft is just bull-headed.

Our line was average last year.

I think we need to bring in another guard/tackle. However I think Lavao is the back up guard with Pinkston and Stienbach as the 2 starters.

I would rather take Claiborne over Coples at #4 if we go defense

Mo Claiborne is phenomenal. He's a better CB prospect than Haden was and Peterson (a much more natural CB than the former). He's just awesome.

I wonder if Coples is better suited for the 3-4 as a 5 technique DE.

Been hearing if the Texans don't re-sign Mario Williams he could be a big name we wold go after.

I'd love if we went after Williams. We'd immediatel solidify our line, get a stud across from Sheard, and eliminate one more position of need for the Browns.

Why would he come here.

The Browns decided not to spend in a huge free agency class last year, where many teams with cap space got out and spent freely. There are roughly 10 teams with massive cap space this offseason. Some of those teams may be tying up significant money to retain talent on their rosters currently (such as the 49ers, Bears, etc.)

If we decide Mario Williams is our goal in the offseason, we could very possibly give him the biggest offer he'll get. As to whether or not that would be enough to bring him in, I guess we'll see.

Robert Mathis is out there too. With everyone abandoning the Colts' shipwreck, he could be a solid pickup for the next 3-4 years.

Every post you make has an imbedded threat to the front office of the Browns. If you're not RL or a Browns employee, then I'm going to tell you that I think you're nuts with this comment.

Do you really think this regime will survive a 4-12 or 5-11 season in 2012? I don't.

I'm telling you what I think will happen if the Browns don't start translating all this supposedly brilliant talent acquisition into tangible success on the field, and soon. It's an opinion based on what I know about the level of patience in ownership, in the media and in the fanbase. As has been already stated in this thread, there are already people in the media calling for this regime's head. What do you think it's going to be like this time next year if the team keeps losing?

Don't shoot the messenger.

EDIT- Check that- I think the regime would survive 4-12/5-11 if they had their QB of the future in place. That would buy them some time. If they trot out Colt McFrye again and go 4-12... I think they're dead.

This tells me offense needs to be the sole focus. We were bottom of the league in everything.

Man, 6 QBs had more passing yards than the Browns offense this year.
Brees
Brady
Stafford
Eli
Rodgers
Rivers

The Browns are only 1 of 8 teams to not hit 5000 yards total offense. That is pathetic.

You don't ditch a regime after 3 years.. or else you'll never get the right pieces in place.
