So basically a one year deal. If he blows, he takes the player option to cash in. If he is good, he leaves for more money and or a bigger role most likely.

Will be nice to have the depth for one year at least. Hopefully he's decent.
Not 100% sure but as a new First time NBA player with under 4 years in the league, he will be a RFA(either next year if he opts out, or the following year if he plays out the contract)

Similar to how Mirza Teletovic was a RFA this summer until the Nets chose to renounce him

He could also opt out and re-sign with the Cavs, right? But a team option would have been nice given the potential uncertainty with Tristan and Mozgov's contracts, as well as Andy's health.

Love this signing. This guy and LeBron are going to mesh, I think. Kaun is a good roll man in the pick and roll, and that is what LeBron likes.

Been as anxious about this signing as the others. It will be great to have true depth at the 5 this year, especially in the form of another towering Russian. You want to play big? Great, we can have a 7 footer out there patrolling the paint all game.

Love this signing. We are so fu_ckin' fortified at every position it's ridiculous. Yes, it'd be nice to have just a bit more insurance behind LeBron, but I'm not complaining...we still have TWO TPEs to use should RJ prove insufficient.

If they wait TT out and he signs a semi-friendly deal, this will have been an historic offseason for the Cavs.

It would of been flawless had they been able to draft Hollis-Jefferson and still found a way to get that TPE from Portland for just one 2nd rounder but I can't complain.

Health barring...this team is going to be outstanding.

I hope that's not his jersey number....every time I see that number I think of Samardo Samuels
Who knows. It's just a quickly whipped up photoshop. Look at how weird his hand resting in his hip looks

He's also doing the Colbert "look who I'm with" stance.

Good pick 'n roll man, excellent finisher, solid defender, above-average basketball IQ. Poor rebounder, no shooting stroke outside the paint. Overall, he's a great addition to the team who helps make our bench one of, if not, the best in the league.

Remains to be seen if he'll be any better than Perkins was last year, but seems unlikely that he could be any worse. Since he was a Cavs draft pick, he saves them some money on the luxury tax compared to signing a min salary vet or undrafted free agent.

Yeah I remember he had a 7'6 wingspan when they measured him at the combine.

Edit: Yup

"He still lacks any type of game away from the basket, but showed decent agility throughout the game, specifically on an alley-oop dunk in the second half—a set play that Kansas runs somewhat regularly for him. Kaun failed to make the subsequent free throw attempt to complete the three point play, however, and has only converted on 54.1% of his charity stripes attempts this season."

I wonder if he has improved on that since then

You can see all of his stats here: http://www.basketball-reference.com/euro/players/sasha-kaun-1.html

His FT% did improve to 67% last year but it's definitely been an area of weakness for him.

67.3% last season...that scouting report is from about 8 years ago, will be interesting to see Kaun back in the states...haven't seen him play live since the 08 NCAA title game. Always felt he played soft given his imposing size for a college player, but hopefully that changed playing professionally.
