Re: Cavs sign Shaun Livingston, waived Sloan

I still put his injury and Joe Thiesman's injury as the most gruesome I have ever seen.

I liked him alot and really thought he was going to be special, that injury was very heartbreaking. I love that he is actually contributing again and for my cavs. Great story, really hope we up with him again next year...

I'd say the worst I've seen were Livingston and Allen Ray's injury. Anyone remember that. When his damn eyeball popped out of his head?

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

I've watched the Cavs since the 79-80 season religiously, and I seriously think that Livingston is one of my top 10 favorite Cavs players already. There is a way that he plays that is mesmerizing - it's hard not to focus on him when he's out there. It's so rare to watch a player that just plays the right way on nearly every play, that works at his own pace and lets the game come to him, and knows his role. It makes such a joy to wat

Re: Cavs sign Shaun Livingston, waived Sloan

Yeah it was one of the nastier sports injuries, and almost certainly the worst NBA one. Bogut's is bad, but really is more comical than horrifying (I always wanted to edit that video and add a banana peel sound effect when Bogut loses his grip on the rim, btw). There are others too, but none feature a guy's knee basically collapsing into itself like a dying star.

While the Livingston and Bogut injuries are particularly bad, I think the Johnny Knox injury this past year for the Bears was the worst. People are supposed to fold in opposite directions. Came out today that his career is likely over.

Marshon Lattimore's was awful as well. I was getting pissed when it started appearing on every website I visit. I watched it once, never want to see it again.

You think his was bad? You should see Marcus Lattimore's :chuckles:

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

A few weeks back, I was looking forward to seeing a Livingston/Gibson backcourt, thought they would work well together, but now I think Livingston/Ellington is even better, I'd say that quite a few playoff teams would love to have them as their 2nd unit backcourt...hope we can find a way to hang onto both.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Really hope to see Livingston as the back up next year and in the future if for the right price.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

he is just a guy that is easy to pull for. glad he is on cavs, great story.

Would like to see him and Ellington still here in the further future as well.

I'm not going to lie, I thought "great...the Cavs are bring this garbage in...he'll be gone in no time"...well I was wrong after all! Glad to have him here and accepting the backup role to Kyrie!

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

I'd offer Shaun a two-year, five and a half million dollar contract in the offseason, with some throw-ins based on performance or however they do it.

I think he is our most valuable bench player, and that turn-around jumper in the post is money almost always. I love that shot of his.

I pray he stays healthy.

Unbelievable Basketball IQ. Makes teammates better, defends, passes, unselfish guy. Never forces the issue.

Wonder what Oden thinks about Livingstons rejuvenation?

Great calming presence to have around Dion and Kyrie. Well spoken guy that "gets it"

I take Livingston over Jamison 100/100 times if you are looking for "veteran leadership"

Great to see his explosiveness return. He gets his lift from his length. Uses his stride really well.

He's excellent at using his length to his advantage. 6-7 point guard for free?

Yeah, Livingston and Ellison would be great bench guys going forward. It'll be tough to find young guys with talent and potential who are willing to play a backup role behind Dion and Kyrie.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

I think the way that he moves toward the basket, probes the defense, and then reads it reminds me of Andre Miller a little. They both like taking smaller guys in the post too. Andre is still the better pg without question, but I really liked when Shaun was bumped and slipped and he still managed a behind the back to Tristan last night. A really nice momentum play.

He has been adequate on D at the 3, which is an interesting matchup at the end of games. Wouldn't work against the biggest 3's, but 3 guys that can find their teammates is a plus. He and look Walton look dynamic out there. It is crazy.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

That post turnaround jumper is so smooth. It seems inconsistent right now, but if he can make that a high percentage shot, he is going to be a very tough matchup for backup guards. I don't want him to go anywhere for a long time.
