The Connor Shaw thread...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
so is grossi saying that hoyer is injured? because that first tweet sounds like absolute and total speculation

Sadly I don't think the quarterback of the future is in this draft class either...

And of the last draft class teddy fucking bridgewater looks the best sadly. Who is who we all said we would like to have at the beginning of the year and talked ourselves out of it.

Not all of us talked ourselves out of it. I wanted Evans/Bridgewater.

I'm not sure what everyone's draft board looked like, so if we took Evans. Bridgewater may have or may have not been there. Of course that's water under the bridge now. (See what I did there?)

If the Bears are shopping cutler(doubt they are), do you take a hard look at him?

Those who have followed SEC football over the past few years know Connor Shaw is legit. Didn't have the Johnny Football hype, but was productive over a full four year period. His major problem is durability, but actually has a similar skill set to Manziel.

I expect him to have a much better showing than JM, just like he did in the preseason. Good opportunity to see if Shaw can provide a valid alternative if the Browns feel its in their interest to move on from Manziel's celebrity this off season (i.e someone is willing to give up a first or second [third?] rounder for him).

You're dreaming if you think you can get a first, second or third for JFF. If you did escalators you might be able to, but he'd never reach those. At most you'll get a 6th or 7th if you're lucky. He has no value at all at this point.

I'd like to play him all of next year, if he pans out great. If he doesn't we get a hell of a draft pick. Maybe even the first time we get a first overall pick in years.

You are probably right, but there is always Jerry Jones.

Can you name 3 teams that have better weapons than the Bears...and Cutler shit the bed with them. How do you think he would do with a massive downgrade at every single position on the Browns?

Cutler is a loser, an asshole and the worst leader in the NFL. He's arguably the least liked QB in the NFL too. Hell, I'd rather cut bait with Johnny to eliminate the circus, sign Hoyer for 3 years at $10M a year and fill our other holes until a long term answer comes along. All these blown first rounders have set us back 5 years.

If we trade for a starter, it better be Foles. All other options are either really bad or not proven.

I'd also consider trading up for Mariota. At least kick the tires.

This is a very Bill Simmons like scenario but...

Johnny Manziel traded to Philly for Nick Foles. Who says no?

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly is not the most sentimental person in the NFL, so it's rare for him to show anything but his normally quick wit when dealing with the media. On Monday however, he opened up a little bit while discussing the draft's most talked-about prospect in Johnny Manziel.

It turns out Kelly has quite the soft spot for the quarterback, and was devastated when Manziel decommitted from Oregon to attend Texas A&M back in high school.

"When I coached at Oregon he was tailor-made for (the offense)," Kelly told CSN Philadelphia. "He broke my heart. I love the kid. I think he's a hell of a football player."

...He visited Kelly in Eugene for one of the Ducks' football camps in 2010 and promptly pulled the trigger on a scholarship offer and committed. A few months later, Texas A&M put on a full-court press for Manziel's services and he eventually switched his commitment to the Aggies.

According to Pettine, Manziel was playing hurt on and its severity increased on the high snap play. Pettine was pleased with some of the thing he saw Manziel doing in the first half against Carolina. Im guessing they stick with MAnziel and go for a vet to bring in

Im not sure any point in starting hoyer with a bum shoulder. Shaw will get his shot

Were you trying to set us up while holding back this story? :chuckle:

I think the issue here is that Kelly recruited him as a college QB. That doesn't mean he likes him as one in the NFL.

Hope I'm wrong and he's short-sighted enough to want him! I'd take Foles over him all day.
