The Job Market w/o College

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oh really? Dont comment on something you know nothing about. I dont need employees. I show up on a jobsite every day work for about 8 hours and go home. There is no billing to do
I know a lot about starting a business. Its something you obviously don't know about.

You both make me piss. So now it's REALLY a contest.

Pick 6 was speaking in generalities.generally, when starting a business you end up with employees.congrats on finding a model that doesnt require any.but stop taking things personally

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology...all I gotta say is..College is a waste of fucking time and money. I graduated from college 2 years ago and still at my same 9.15/hr job that I have been since I graduated from high school...and that was 8 years ago.

That's because a Psych degree is useless (even in a good economy) unless you go to grad school.

You have no idea what i do. So stop being an idiot.

Relax, in general what he was saying is true. You might not have any paperwork now, but I doubt it stays that way if your business grows (which should be your ultimate goal). My mom has a business and she's the only employee. She ended up incorporating because it saved her money. Well with incorporation comes a shit ton of paperwork.

So far this year i have made about 50k but i am in the process of starting my own little business. All i need to do is provide labor, no paperwork or stress at all. Sorry i dont really want to get into detail but it involves construction.

Yeah and I'm in waste management... :chuckles:

I was kinda in the same boots as you Bill. Went to school for a year, bad habits, too much freedom...etc etc. Always worked as a laborer. It always sucked but I enjoy hard work. I applied almost everywhere that i could get in, without the need of any schooling. Finally got into a steel mill and making $17.25/hour with overtime 3 times a month. Just get your name out there as much as possible. It'll get better.

Was thinking about going to a trade school for welding or some kind of machinist but was fortunate enough to get the job I got. Goodluck

(2) Trade school. At this point, you're talking less letter grade and more achievement and skill related reward. Look into specialties that are always hiring, but can't find qualified people. Max has posted about them multiple times.

This. trade or tech school.

I have about 2 years of college and never finished. I have been working at shitty jobs that pay anywhere from $10-15 an hour. Just cant seem to find anything snd stick with it.

My wife got her degree from Akron in 2011 and can't find shit in her field. She graduated with a degree in criminology sociology and law enforcement with a minor in criminal justice. She can't find shit. All the jobs she's interested in require experience. That's basically every job she's applied at. Now she's stuck working 2 part time jobs until she can find something else

Is your wife applying to be a cop or applying to law school? I mean...aren't those the two end-points for that degree?

the biggest common denominator with people who cant get jobs out of college is that they chose a major that the demand for just isnt there.

My best friend at Akron is majoring in Criminal Justice as well. He wants to be a Private Investigator. He had an internship with Akron PD over the summer, but he will need some things to go his way to be anything other than a cop, IMO.
