The Job Market w/o College

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have one year of college. Got very lucky and got into healthcare before they started requiring degrees in sales and other things. I did HR at MetroHealth Medical Center for awhile and then got into Long Term Care Sales and Marketing. 15 years later and still going strong.

If you can get into any type of Medical sales or long term care you will be set.

Hot tip for you guys.. I attended my friends graduation from corrections academy on Friday.. She went to school for 3 months and will start off at 70k. Looking at the website, tuition and all other fees are around 1k.

If that's not a ridiculous return on investment in regards to time and money, I dont know what is.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology...all I gotta say is..College is a waste of fucking time and money. I graduated from college 2 years ago and still at my same 9.15/hr job that I have been since I graduated from high school...and that was 8 years ago.

Probably should have gotten a degree in something useful, or got your doctorate if you wanted to choose a field that basically requires one.

Sounds like a scam.

Just like freecreditreport.com and fanduels.com

except I know the girl and just went to her graduation and she already has her job inside a facility

If I may ask what is her degree and job on and who is the employer. It really does sound too good to be true, but not impossible.

No, she will be a corrections officer. Since she is female in a male dominated field it is easier for her to get a job. They do make decent money, but they also work in a war zone. Risking life every day to make 50-100k a year, no thanks.

My wife graduated last year with a major in criminology sociology and law enforcement with a minor in criminal justice. She can't find a job on her field. Everywhere wants experience. She's applied to jails lOSS prvention etc.

I applied for a job a while back. I just heard that I'm one of the 9 finalists for the position. They sent me some short (350 words) essay questions they want me to answer by the 28th. I imagine they'll use those to cut it down to 5 or so and then interview. There were 64 applicants to begin with. That's not a ton, but it's still nice to know that I beat out 55 other people.

The job would be running an auditorium at a library. Running the theater lights and sound systems, recording author visits, editing video and pictures with CS6. Best part is libraries are technically government jobs so I would get government benefits and a pension. Salary starts at 40K, not too shabby for a first job out of college. There's room for promotion and a yearly pay increase.

I haven't found anything special yet. My aunt has invited me to live in her incredibly expensive home in Glencoe, IL just north of Chicago until I find something and get on my feet. I feel like if I accept I'm being a moocher though, so I am kind of in a pickle. That house is so fucking amazing though and I would have an entire floor to myself.

Don't know what to do :/

Live in the house. Might be the last time you'll be able to live somewhere rent free and not have to foot the bills for life in general.

Take advantage. Save dough.

I think I am going to. Realistically it's too good of an opportunity to pass up. Her husband works on the thirtieth floor in the sears tower as a stock trader, I can probably get some solid saving/investment advice while there too. I have no reason to say no to this. It's the nicest house I have ever been in, the area is really safe and the commute to down town Chicago would be very easy.

I'm going for it.

Is she hot?

Don't feel bad about it, take advantage. I lived with my mom for a while after I graduated. It's tough to adjust to living with your parents after the freedom of college, but it's the smart thing to do. Save your money, put it towards loans, build up a savings, etc. I paid off a fair amount of my student loans and built up a nice little nest egg before I moved out. I still don't have a legitimate full time job (maybe I'll get this one) but I have been working multiple part time gigs.
