The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

I don't think she's making any of these decisions though. I think he's convinced that what she's recommending is ultimately going to get things done, just like in the books (specifically in regards to Blackwater Bay).

Prime example: He listens to Davos and doesn't take Melisandre with him to Blackwater. Melisandre was very adamant about being involved in that battle but Stannis put his foot down and left her in Dragonstone. The fact that she's been right about a few things (aforementioned example, Robb Stark dying through leech prophecy) has swayed him to allow her a larger voice. It's still all very much his choice, though. The minute he thinks she's wrong he's going to make it known i.e. choking her until she proves there are visions in the flames in season 2. Again, he also refused to allow for Shireen to be punished by Selyse last episode. Stannis is still very much in control.

For the record, I didn't really have an issue with Stannis at all in season two. It was just in season three (and the one scene this year) where it seems they've taken his character off the rails.

Great episode, as always. Saw these snapshots on r/ASOIAF that are pretty telling, notice the missing jewel to Sansa's left:

Also, those Bran visions though. I was curious to see how they would deal with a very supernatural storyline when up to this point D&D have been very hesitant to include a lot of the more magic-y elements of the story. I'm a sucker for the prophecies though, but it looks like that stuff will never have a place within their show, which is fine I guess. It would be nice for show watchers to understand why Cersei hates Tyrion so much, being the "Valonqar" and all. That scene with The...err I mean Reek and Ramsay/Roose were great. When he finds out about Robb being killed...

Really, the whole wedding was very well done. I loved the interactions between all the different characters, and especially everyone's reaction to Joffrey being a cunt. And of course, his mother and father are the first ones to his side when he chokes out.

edit: Also, is anyone else bothered at all about how the show portrays Stannis as if he is dependent on Melisandre? He was never this fanatical in the books. I don't think he ever actually believed any of Melisandre's babbling in the books, he begrudgingly went along with it because it was another weapon in his arsenal. I don't think he "loves" Melisandre at all. In fact, I think Stannis is almost asexual. He is so single minded on duty and his rights that everything else kinda falls to the side. I remember that scene in S3 where Mel is leaving to find Gendry and Stannis is like a love-sick puppy thinking that she is "abandoning him". I feel like a filthy book purist when I'm writing this, so someone else tell me that they have noticed this too.

Personally I think the Volanqar will end up being Jamie.

This is a pretty common belief from what I've seen. I just can't see it being Tyrion. Too obvious.

Plus, Cercei is always wrong about everything.

And it's a good thing you're not.

My goodness-- if you don't want to read the spoilers, stay out of the thread. Simple as that.

Wait a minute..you say that, yet yell at me when I explain a Walking Dead preview trailer for an episode?! Lolz

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

When bran had his tree-vision, I thought i saw a zombie-like horse.. I was thinking that could be a nod towards coldhands, but now that I think about it he rode an elk so maybe not.

Yeah, like Jack said, I think that was just re-used footage from the end of S2 when Sam was attacked. When I saw the trailers for S4 and they had a dude riding on a horse above the wall wearing what looked like black clothes I thought it could have been coldhands, but the more I watch the more I feel that they are just cutting him out entirely which is a bummer.

Personally I think the Volanqar will end up being Jamie.

I agree. Both of their stories seem to be angling towards a confrontation between the two. Especially now that
Jamie has pretty much forsaken his sister by burning her plea for help in ADWD. Although, I have a bad feeling that Jamie won't survive his encounter with Lady Stoneheart. "Jamie Lannister sends his regards" sounds pretty damning to me, let alone a hyper vengeful mother.

Those captions are hilarious, especially Sansa and Tommen's

There hasn't been any Iron Islands stuff yet this season and the North has probably had a combined 10 minutes of screen time or so. Stannis has had, what, five minutes total?

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

Okay, the boltons, whatever. I only really like the stuff in the capital and the dragon stuff.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

I'm fine with that.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

lol "dragons stuff"

Definitely some scenes I don't like in the show but not entire regions of storylines.

I was talking to my sister about last night episode, and it seems that even 4 seasons in, she can't get the names right. Most annoying thing to me.
