The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

Since it's not really relevant and the show isn't using this character, can you explain the Coldhands character?

No one really knows what he is, but he's some kind of dead person. Similar to the blue eyed dead wights that attacked Jon Snow and Mormont at Castle Black, but dressed in the Black of the Night's Watch, with black, ice cold hands and he rides an elk and has a flock or ravens that he commands.

In the books, he's helpful to a lot of characters although on one knows why. He's the one that saves Sam and Gilly from the White Walker (in the book, that same flock of Ravens show up, but it's because he sent them), and calls Sam "brother" (Night's Watch tie?), and then escorts Sam and Gilly to the Wall where they run into Bran and the Reeds. He is also involved with the mutineers and Bran and the Reeds, but since we don't know where they are taking that story on the show, I won't tell you whether he helps them or hurts them or does nothing.

Here's a picture.

Can't wait for the TV show to pass the books. I'm sure it will be a much better story than whatever the delusional GRRM is writing right now.

If he is even writing and not swimming in his safe full of gold.

Have you...you know...read the books? I don't know how anyone who has read them can hope for the show to pass him. I think GOT is hands down the best show on TV, but it still is not as good as ASOIAF.

Although he could totally be swimming in gold if he wanted to.

He's just being a fucking troll, don't feed him. lol

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

Speaking of Benjen, isn't it kind of assumed that he's Coldhands? Did that theory get quashed?

I don't think it's at all assumed he is Coldhands. For one, I think Bran would recognize his uncle. For two, the children of the forest mention that Coldhands was killed long ago. The children live significantly longer than humans, so it's safe to assume he died long before Benjen disappeared.

Regardless, I think Coldhands is just a random wight that Bloodraven warged. That would explain why he's not at all important on the show.

I read they were talking about doing to a prequel to prevent this.

I feel like we answer this every two pages. :chuckles:

Not going to happen. That was just Martin being delusional because he writes at a snail's pace.

I have...of course...read the books. I still have them on my shelf. I bet you're one of those snobs who reads a book and then burns it in a bonfire to save space.

Look at me, I have enough books that I need one whole shelf to store them all. Pathetic.

I have books. I don't read much anymore though. lol, Kindles. I'm not a fag.

I use my Kindle for everything but reading books. :chuckles:

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

Yeah, because it's super gay to have a portable device that holds all of your books and has a battery life that is measured in weeks. I read so much more now that I have an e-reader than I did before. It's just more practical and convenient.

I use my Kindle for everything but reading books. :chuckles:

I have a regular Kindle, so basically the only thing I can do with it is read books.
