This whole incident screams "first world problem" to me

Though I do agree with X about the concept of punishment, sometimes a kid needs a good kick in the ass to get the point and political correctness has changed the concept/action taken for discipline

The only problem I have with it, is that he destroyed an asset. Like someone alluded to earlier, this could work to make her think destroying and wasting things is good way to resolve your problems. Now if the laptop was just a shell of a laptop with the real one hidden for a month or so, that would be a good lesson...
 
Parents not doing shit like this, not teaching their stupid kids to be respectful, and not teaching their stupid fucking kids that good things in life are earned not given...are the people that cause us to become a lame ass, soft entitlement society.

Of course everyone grown up dude who got their ass beat by their parents is going to agree with this guy on the outside. It's refreshing to see parents give to to their kids the hard way in a world that's filled with disrespectful little shits.

But Flo is absolutely right - kids are always going to act out in retarded ways.

Putting myself in her shoes and not looking at this cynically, this man has made some serious damage on his daughters relationship with him. She acted out and disrespected him, sure. I did that too and so did every one else - maybe not in the way she did, but we all did in our own way. She deserved to be punished just like all of us did. I might even agree with the bullet in the computer thing.

But holy shit he just put his 16 year old daughters shit on blast for the nation to see. I know he didn't intend it to go viral, but doing this to her is going to have some serious fucking ramifications.

That said, if she deals with this in a mature way maybe he can make a response amending things.

I think every child needs a moment of national embarrassment to further strengthen their growth into adulthood. Next time she fucks up, I think he needs to make a video reading her diary. Because she ain't hiding that shit on Facebook anymore.
