Farewell, Timofey Mozgov

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
23 minutes for the Moz-A-Tron tonight. Any idea why he's not getting 30+ minutes? There must be a reason, but my average basketball IQ can't seem to put my finger on it.

I'm guessing because he isn't familiar with everything yet.

That or, like any Cave Troll, he tires easily.

I thought he was great tonight but the Cavs were pretty effective in the 2nd half without him as well. Perhaps once they decided that Love was going to play through the injury, they may have recognized it's unlikely Love will play tomorrow -- meaning Mozgov will be needed more?

I think it was a mix of that and him being new and it takes big men longer to learn IMO. He is basically out there off instincts and unlike Smith he has not been around that long to pick up a new team and system as easy. Also I see him as more of a size match up and tonight going small was working better.

Didn't Moz only play like 25 mins a night in Denver? I can see why their being careful with him seeing as he's our only legitimate center.

Yep breaking him in is what I call it. Much more effective early seeing as he is new and does not know everyone and everything yet. He is doing well for being so new though and doing what we ask. J.R however is blowing me away I was expecting a lot worse and he has me forgetting Dion already.

Mozgov was big tonight. He competed hard, he played really well in the post and made some nice shots. He had his hands full, for sure, but he did a lot of the dirty work boxing out Jordan and allowing Tristan and the rest of the team to pull down defensive boards.

Without him in there tonight to battle for some time, we may have gotten physically destroyed over the course of 48 minutes.

What I liked about Mozgov tonight was that he didn't get down on himself when Jordan started out hot. Mozgov was great at the end of both the 1st and 3rd quarters, as well as the early 4th. IIRC he played much of the 4th with 5 fouls. It shows a) that Blatt trusts Mozgov a lot, and b) that Mozgov is a high IQ player to avoid fouling out for that long. Too many times us Cavs fans have seen clumsy bigs like Hollins, Hawes, Samardo, etc.

Well, technically, he's big every night--guys a giant. :)

On a serious note, love the picks he sets. Gives Ky and James space.

Agree priceFTW - the picks Mozgov sets are big time. Whenever Kyrie or LBJ use him properly on the pick it's either a wide open bucket at the rim or open lane for the ball handler.

He showed some NICE touch around the basket as well tonight. Really like Mozgov - I think he can still get alot better because he has all the tools. And his presence on defense is just big time for our team.

One thing I wanna see Mozgov do is bring down the thunder on some opposit players if they're hitting Lebron and kyrie hard. Suns were mugging Lebron, Moz needed to put Morris or whoever else on their ass.
