Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd hardly call his defense on West and Love pedestrian. granted, Love got 17 points on 45 % but most of those points came in the second half where Tristan wasn't guarding him and it's still a massive drop compared to his last few games. Tristan absolutely shut him down in the first half.

People think Irving is hiding and injury and now Thompson? We're like...a week into the season. Do we have the most brittle roster in the league?

Yes.

Finally figured out why Tristan's jumper looks a little odd. Form wise it looks fine, but his footwork still looks like a lefty occasionally.

Should be easily correctable and just a minor obstacle after everything he's already done.

Well, I'd say he's the only guy that played hard for the entire game, but even he started to throw in the towel late in the fourth. Whatever. 9 offensive rebounds is really impressive. Best player on the court for us tonight, although that's not saying much.

He's the only player on the team that consistently plays like he gives a fuck.

He is afraid to shoot that 15 footer that he hit early. I'm waiting for this stream to archive so I can look at his feet like Dwreck said earlier. I want to see what he is doing different with his feet than he did in the first two games.

He is back to playing like he did to start last season next to Andy. Confused and overthinking.

His hustle will always show up, but to be afraid to shoot from 15 ft really makes the rest of the lineup alongside him and Andy have to work that much harder.

You can tell he's starting to think about that shot now. The first couple games, IIRC, he didn't hesitate to take it. Now, it's almost like he's thinking twice about it before pulling the trigger.

If anything I would think his confidence should have improved (not regressed) having started out quick this season offensively when it comes to shooting that 15 footer.

9 offensive rebounds don't mean much when you miss 60 shots.

Yeah, I thought he had gotten out of the phase where he got blocked on 60% of his shot attempts at the rim. Just embarrassing, especially at the hands of this Philly front line.

I think he got frustrated early (especially because we shouldnt be losing to shit teams, and you can see TT hates to lose) and got back to some of his old habits. He's been fine avoiding blocks, so not worried.

The biggest thing I've noticed is that he still consistently uses his right foot as his pivot foot in the triple threat position when he catches the ball. When he steps with the left, it makes gathering his legs under him to go up for the jumper pretty awkward. Should be easily correctable with more practice.

TT has a much improved shooting stroke with his switch to the right hand, but his midrange game is still not reliable, nor is it respected.

He and Andy are just too redundant right now, and it makes them both look worse than they really are. Hell, is making everybody look worse because there's no floor spacing.

I don't know what the short-term answer is. Long-term, Tristan needs to develop that jumper. For now, we need Tristan to at least be comfortable enough to take the shots and just hope that he has some good nights along the way as he develops some consistency.

Bring Andy off the bench

Bring Andy off the bench

That doesn't solve anything because the floor spacing would get even worse with Bynum and Tristan sharing the floor. Flat out, Tristan needs to find the confidence to start taking and making jumpers.
