Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs would of never scored 20 points in the fourth with Thompson in there clogging the paint. The offense has looked much better with Clark at the 4.

And another thing, you see Bynum playing out of the high post because Thompson occupies the low post. Just makes no sense.

The Cavs scored 20 or more points in every quarter of that game. Tristan was on the court for 23 of those minutes. It is more then obvious that your statement is complete and utter hogwash. Please give it a rest.

The cavs offense has been a complete failure with Thompson. The only quarters they did well. The 2nd and 4th, earl Clark played the majority of time.

It doesn't matter how much we score in a quarter, we could have won the the game by defense.

With Bynum's defense the cavs are a much better team. The guy can't play a few minutes to end the 4th?

Thompson is actually growing on me but I can't fault Brown at all for tonights rotation.

This offense is desperate to get going and have some success so these kids get back to buying into Brown. Tonight, I saw them running the equivalent of a flex offense. And it is dangerous and potent when you have a big who can score from his place in the high post or further out. Lanes are open for wings who are passing and cutting when that other defensive big has to follow his man outside of the paint area.

Starting the season, Thompson was shooting it from there (15-18ft) and then starting that first Charlotte game, he just seemngly stopped and went back to second guessing his ability from there for whatever reason. With Bynum in there, Tristan doesn't hinder the offense as much, but with Andy, Brown has identified that his reluctance to trust his right from that range has clogged lanes, and he is right.

You could put him in the high post while Andy is in, but Andy is the better passer and shooter, though even then still not dangerous to a defense. So... Tristan had better hope Bynum continues to hold up and warrant more minutes for now. Because Clark spaces the floor and helps the lanes open up next to Andy much more while ALSO providing the prototypical length you want from a 4 (same for Dion not showing enough to make MB feel better about not having his length advantage at the 2)

Defensive coaches prefer length and quickness. The exception is a player so talented on offense that you just learn to mask his less than ideal length/quick on D. Tristan is not that kind of guy, so until we get humming on offense, he'll pay for being so offensively limited (shrugs)

Imagine Bennett in Clarks role in another year with about 10x as much offensive talent and you will be ok with TT being used as he is.

I'm not going to get into the Thompson argument with you again, but, good luck with the bolded.

Thompson possesses length and quickness. He also knows how to use it to rebound.

Not a argument to be had. When he develops range outside of 5 feet, the floor will open up and he'll be out there a lot more. His hustle is great. Hes sound as a positional defensive big. Cat like on showing against guards. But he shrinks the floor on offense. And the game is trending away from bigs who shrink the floor for you on offense (shrug)

Bennett is not garbage. He's hurt from bad coaching to start the season. Still believe he will be solid as a stretch 4 and his skill will dhow before the season is over.

I mean there is an argument. He has range outside of 5 feet. And he basically does everything else better than Clark except shooting a stand-still 3. The team might be better if it had a true-stretch 4, but you don't sacrifice literally everything else just to have a guy who, on rare occasion, makes an open jumper.

Hey, I mean, if Thompson's minutes get stifled this season, he's bound to be easier to sign to an extension that doesn't break the bank, right? :king:
