Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Jesus. More needless overreaction. The Cavs will pay him, and it will be more than he deserves. What is the total going to be? No clue. Don't care.

When will you guys stop believing everything that ESPN and Windy tell you? Just meaningless posturing.

Ugh, didn't come from ESPN and Windy, and I'm betting at this point that him taking the QO is more likely than a deal getting done.

He'd be an idiot to take the QO (injury risk), and the Cavs will be idiots to give it to him (can't replace him in FA). The Cavs are just trying to get every penny off the tax that they can.

Again, I think it's all just posturing. I think everyone (myself included) is just sick of waiting for the outcome.

Would be amazing for the Cavs if he actually took the 1 year qo. No lose situation. Doesnt cripple the Cavs long term with a questionable contract. He either plays up to the max contract and he re-signs with the Cavs or he is mediocre and the Cavs either let him walk or get him at a discount. Laughable to actually believe that him signing the qo would mean he would definitively walk away from the Cavs potential offer next year.

I don't think TT takes the QO, I think he talks with his agent and they figure out a reasonable amount to come down to. But Tristan will get overpaid. Whether its $80M or $94M or somewhere in-between, he is not worth the asking price.

Who cares if we can't find someone as "good" as him. We're looking for someone to replace his role. Are you really telling me, Tristan is one of a kind, and his role is irreplaceable in this league?

His role is dime a dozen in the NBA. You can find a least productive guy similar to him, much cheaper, and get by just fine.

Yeah it sort of feels like Rich Paul and the media are ratcheting up the worst case scenario to like 20 or 25 mil a year so that when Paul asks for 5 years 85 million we suddenly think it looks attractive.

I think part of the reason that the debate over Tristan's worth/essential-ness to the Cavs is that we seem to have trouble finding a player or players who we can agree are comparable to him in terms of skillset/value.

I haven't really watched Omer Asik play much but his stats look similar to TT's and he got I think about 12 mil a year. Asik is significantly taller than TT though and that gives him more ability to play a true center role which I would think makes him more valuable. I think Chris Parker had a good point about how TT's game is sort of a "dinosaur" now. There seems to be less and less market for PFs who have no perimeter shooting ability.

Thats possible exactly what happens right now.
Good old negotiation^^

As far has replacing him.. i think IF we cant or dont want to retain him at a barable rate... we have to stop thinking like we are loosing our 4th Megastar. I mean the TT hype is real. the money he demands totally boosted our perception of his worth^^

He is in case he doesnt suddenly develops a 18ppg offensive Game a role player period.

He has his strenghts and its hard to replace them exactly but its not impossible.

And we propably dont NEED him to be replaced exactly. A Big who can rebound and Defend and hustle his ass off will suffice. And of those you can find quite a few.

Fuck this guy. I'll boo him next year if this is his stance. Clearly, being a winner means nothing to him.

Does he really need 5 jet skis instead of 3? And bro, you aren't that good. Take what you can get. This is the highest his stock will ever be.

Unless we lock him up for a long time at an...ok...price, I hope Tristan's career flames out and he's miserable. This shit is absurd.

In any other line of work, a mediocre employee with this attitude would be shown the door.

Giving up any edge you have during your window is dumb. OKC....
