Welcome Lou Amundson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I can say this, Amundson's soft looking demeanor is the exact opposite of his game. If anything I wish his game had more finesse. While not a prolific or natural shot blocker, he will put a guard on his ass. Lots of Andrew DeClerq style rim protection.

We re going to have a legit all ugly lineup miller, jones, louuuu

Some needs to put together a "Winning Ugly" banner for that lineup that would only come out at the end of lopsided games. Now imagine what we could do if we got Sam Cassell & Gheorghe Mureșan to come out of retirement....

I love the vets Like Lou that have been on more teams than years in the league, lol.

9 teams, 8 years in the league. We make 10 and 9.

But league min, can defend, so not a terrible signing.

He will make the season roster, he is all hustle. Seriously this team won't miss alot of shots but when they do its a given second attempt with all these rebounders

Not a fan of his really, but he's decent injury insurance. Can't ask for much more. Rim protector? Have never seen it. He plays the game the same way Andy and Tristan do, but he's definitely the worst of the 3.

C+

What's not to like about him? He will not be playing heavy minutes. When he does play he can come in and play hard nosed D and run the floor well. Really he is a remake of Andy and Delly. He frustrates people by his non-stop effort. Only difference is Lou is deceptively athletic and can run the floor well. He is a vet for the end of the bench.

Yes, Tristan is better all around player right now. But unless you are one of picture judgers he is still only 6'8. Last year TT got abused by a few larger PF like gasol (and one of which was Love.) You could throw Lou (who has legit PF size) out there to try and play frustrating D. He has really done well against Gasol in the past because Gasol is so marshmellowy soft.

We won't have borderline starters 1-15. And he is not a boarderline starter. But he is a vet that will be a heck of a 13th-14th player IMHO. To me this also shows they are planning on doing something with those contracts which is great news.

Plus he can take a punch like a man. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoFlzfywqjc

We are really going to be an all-time annoying team to play with so many scorers/shooters and then the Andy/Lou goofy hair duo flailing around and touching people in inappropriate places.

If we trade for Joakim Noah, this team is perfect.

Touching in inappropriate places will be reserved for if we get Allen

Lou Amundson signs one-year deal with Cavaliers

Lou Amundson signed a one-year, non-guaranteed deal with the Cavaliers, a league source confirmed. Although the Cavs’ rebuilt roster is filling up fast, the veteran journeyman stands a decent chance at making the final cut.

Amundson, 31, has already played for eight teams in eight years, averaging 3.6 points and 3.5 rebounds. But he is a gritty defender and could bring a certain toughness to the post. He’s listed at 6-foot-9 and 225 pounds, but the Cavs believe he can block shots and use his athleticism to defend at the center position despite being undersized.

Amundson’s offensive limitations have forced him to bounce around the league, yet the Cavs certainly don’t need any more scorers. They’re looking for options in the post behind Anderson Varejao at center and they’re impressed by Amundson’s per 36 numbers.

Although he has played sparingly at many stops in his career, he averages 10.1 rebounds and 2 blocks per every 36 minutes he’s on the floor.

Amundson has been in town the last couple of weeks working out and seemed to mesh well with some of the other Cavs players, one source with knowledge of the workouts said.

Amundson has already played with the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Chicago Bulls (twice) and New Orleans Pelicans.

At this point of his career, Amundson is really just a vet presence / practice body.
If he sees any significant playing time this year, that would be an issue. (unless there are a lot of blow-outs and the Cavs play him in garbage time!)

I would hate to think that this team believes they can solve our backup/starting C problem when Andy goes down/ by signing a 6'9" 225lb journeyman who's not going to be able to protect the paint.

More interestingly, this team now has 19 players under books.
1. James
2. Irving
3. Love
4. Varejao
5. Waiters
6. Miller
7. Thompson
8. Delly
9. Jones
10. Marion
11. Harris
12. Haywood
13. Kirk
14. Lucas III
15. Thomas
16. Murphy
17. Crawford
18. Powell
19. Amundson

That means 4, if not 5 or more players have to go before the season begins. So no need to worry just yet.

Still not seeing any chance any of the 3 Utah guys will make the squad. And I'd guess 1 or more of Kirk/Powell/Crawford will be shipped as well.

With Amudson, Delly, Andy, and TT, training camp is going to resemble a boxing gym.
