A closer look at Harrison Barnes

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I will agree that Barnes has had a tough time fitting in UNC, I think the weight of being a preseason all american pick got to him, but he is playing much better of late and is still one of the most talented players in this draft. while his production may not seem like a high prospect I still think he is the 2nd best prospect behinf Kyrie Iriving.

Barnes for a perimeter player doesn't seem to me to have much of a handle and he's not that great at creating in iso situations.

he's turned it around shooting wise and he's a good defender with good hops. We already have one prospect in Eyenga with these kind of traits. Not sure I want to add another.

I agree with this. I've seen every one of his games and I think he is more suited at the two than the three. His dribbling skills are very rudimentary, and looses at lot of one on ones resulting in turnovers. If you are asking him to sit out on the perimeter while someone else creates, he is much more comfortable.

Who said he'd come around first?

I did.
Congrats on your bold prediction. Here ya go, Nostradomus.

By the way, I think there were only a handful of people who said Barnes was a bust. Right now, he's in my top 3. Too much talent to be ignored. We'll see how he closes out the season, but sometimes it takes guys a year or so to mature and transition to the higher level.

UNC is filled with athletes, the best of the best, so it's not a coincidence that Barnes #'s have been tainted a bit by him having to share the ball with a bunch of uber athletes/players.
6'8, 215, can stroke from anywhere, and can slash to the basket at any given time.

I actually don't see the great slashing ability as his handle seems quite poor. Again he does not seem to me a perimeter guy who can create for himself or other but more of an excellent finisher type. Not sure that's what I want out of a top 3 pick.

Question for anyone else who watched UNC/Florida St. : Is Barnes really as tall as they have him listed? He seems closer to 6'5/6'6 than to 6'8, many of the bigs in that game towered over him.

He looks 6'6 w/o shoes to me. That's why I was asking if he's a SG because the dude don't look tall or thick enough to handle SFs.

And if he's not hitting his jumper, Barnes becomes a pretty mediocre player. I think Brandon Knight will pass him in the draft.

He'll be Dorell Wright at best. At worst...he'll be a bust.

He'll be a bust.

Big game for Barnes and the heels tonight against Duke. Shame Kyrie is still hurt.

Barnes with a block and a nice jab step, one-dribble pull up for three.

I tell you what, this game has only been on for about 3 minutes, and Barnes' footwork on the perimeter is really impressive.
