A closer look at Harrison Barnes

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Kendall Marshall's court vision is incredible. When he made that cross court pass to, I believe Henson, in front of him on the other side of the court, I went crazy. Too bad it was called a charge (which it wasn't).

I just don't understand how a troll becomes a mod
Kinda funny how he has been thanked over a thousand times, but has thanked no one himself....0! WTH is that all about

Only since the board upgrade. Pip has actually thanked me close to 3000 times.

Cue Ludacris saying, "OH MY GAWD!"

^ Not particularly high on Barnes but that was sweet

Definitely a sick dunk.

So what's the scoop on him....draftexpress doesn't have a whole lot of info. Good defender, not very polished offensive game? Can he shoot? Pullup?

Has all the tools and is finally starting to put it all together. Harrison has a great looking outside stroke and his defense is pretty good. I would love to see him continue, he was my top prospect before the season started.

He's definitely a good defender and could be a very special defender in the NBA. On offense, he has to show more than his jab step move to convince me that he can score more than 10 ppg in the league. He's a decent shooter, but not great. (His percentages are probably a little worsre than they should be considering his decent looking stroke)

I'm guessing DX will write about him next, so I'm interested to see what they say and if they move him up or not depending on what they write. The biggest thing to look at, as with every prospect, is the weaknesses they write about a player.

He reminds me more of Brandon Roy, and not Kobe Bryant, like some sites were saying. Kobe was a FREAK athlete. Barnes is a good athlete, but he's not in that top 1%. However, he has very good footwork, a nice looking outside shot, and he's almost methodical in the way he gets to the basket.

So, is he a 2 or 3?

I agree but, he has the length and speed to be a 3. If he gets stronger I could see him playing the 3.

I'd agree with that. Long-term, I'd prefer him to play the 2, but he can definitely play both.

I disagree with most of the comparisons that have been made. I think Barnes falls into more of a Joe Johnson. Johnson played in his first few years with Nash, who really showed him a lot about playmaking, which made him even better when he went to Atlanta. Barnes showed in high school that he has playmaking skills, but he's not going for his at UNC; the system is designed for bigs. I think after a couple of years, he does turn into a reliable scorer. Certainly not a franchise player, but a very good scoring option.

Incidentally, I'm also starting to think that Jordan Hamilton from Texas could turn into something similar, but probably without all of the defense.

I don't think the Tarheel system is the best for Barnes skill set. But he has started to find his niche and Williams is trusting him more. Harrison is starting to rise up on my board.
