Re: Cavaliers on verge of Hickson for Casspi

And took Darko.

Drafting well is not part of the same skillset as swinging a favorable deal in the long-term, which is what the Cavs should be trying to do.

Re: Cavaliers on verge of Hickson for Casspi

Where would cassipi be drafted in the past draft? Top 10?
No chance unless some team tards it up.

Him even being a lottery pick is doubtful.

Re: Cavaliers on verge of Hickson for Casspi

I totally agree, but there is a pretty big degree of luck involved here.

Where isn't there when it comes to draft picks? It took a huge amount of luck for Williams/Moon to turn into Irving. We've got no choice but to continue rolling the dice.

Re: Cavaliers on verge of Hickson for Casspi

Very interested in seeing 2013 protection.

Re: Cavaliers on verge of Hickson for Casspi

Due to his faith, can we officially nickname Omar Casspi the REAL Chosen One?

Re: Cavaliers on verge of Hickson for Casspi

I'm upset. I think we could have got max value out of JJ in a mid season trade. People forget the numbers he was putting up near the end of the season. He is a legit 20 and 10 guy. I know he doesn't play any D but man, a lotto protected pick from the Kings? How does it fall from top 6 to lotto protected? It's not like our backs were against the wall or anything on this.

We don't even know if we will have a season! He is a free agent next season. Are you willing to take a risk of letting him walk or take even less back if we have a lockout?

Just throwing this out there, but what if Gilbert really thinks that next year will be a shortened season instead of no season? Then what happens to JJ's trade value when the season starts in mid January and only lasts a couple months? Would teams even be making alot of mid season trades at that point?

Re: Cavaliers on verge of Hickson for Casspi

Blast me for this

Didnt like draft night

Dont like this trade. (because of the protections)

2012 lottery protected does not work for me. There were/are other teams interested in Hickson other than Sac. Omri Casspi can be pretty good, but as it is right now, he is not of Hicksons caliber of asset nor player.

I cant shake the feeling that once locked in on a target, this FO is in tunnel vision mode.

Source confirms Cavs also get a conditional first-round pick in the Casspi-Hickson swap.

Re: Cavaliers on verge of Hickson for Casspi

I remember a lot of people on this board having a hard on for Cassipi earlier in the year. Considering we drafted Thompson, and with JJ's likely salary demands I don't see how this isn't a great deal for us. We get a 1st round pick that we will be very thankful for later down the road, and lessen the log jam of Pf's for a starting Sf, our weakest position. I haven't watched a lot of Cassipi, but from what I've seen he looks like he is starter quality, young, and can improve. What am I missing?

Re: Cavaliers on verge of Hickson for Casspi

Bottom line is this: Hickson put up statistics but played like a bum. I think he has a ton of potential, and I did enjoy watching his offensive game evolve, but even Stevie Wonder could see how big of a black hole he was on defense.

Re: Cavaliers on verge of Hickson for Casspi

Chad Ford: Not sure I like this deal for Cavs. Hickson is younger, bigger and has a higher PER. Became a major rebounder in 2nd half of season.

Chad Ford: If the protections on that Kings first round pick are minimal, deal makes more sense for Cavs.

Just like on draft night, Ford is rolling with me
