Didn't know where to put this so here it goes.

Scott is hard on his players, motivates them and improves his teams. But his coaching philosophy has caused players to grow tired of him after a few years, and eventually getting him fired.

For what it's worth, CP3 loved Byron all the way up until he left, and was actually really pissed about him getting fired. In fact, before Bron left, Scott was a reason many thought we could lure CP3 to stay here if we could pull off a trade for him. There were also reports that after the Cavs hired Byron, Paul was encouraging Bron to think about staying because Byron is a good coach.

Also, fully agree that Scott isn't demanding that he be a lock down defender right now. Yes, he IS a rookie, but what is the biggest praise Kyrie has earned so far throughout the league? That he doesn't PLAY like a rookie. He plays much higher level ball than a rookie, so rightly so, Coach is requiring him to put in the proper effort to develop the weakest part of his game already. Most rookies would get a pass early on, but good for Coach for recognizing Kyries maturity and pushing him to develop his game like a vet.

^ Excellent post Stereo.

I like how Scott is making Irving earn his trust and extra minutes.

It's pretty clear that Kyrie's biggest issue is conditioning. The whole offense moves through him right now so he takes a breather on the defensive end. As he gets in better shape and becomes acclimated to the NBA schedule you'll see him improve. It's pretty clear he wants to be great and one thing all time greats like Kobe and MJ have in common is the ability to defend the ball.

But it so weird how he seems bored out there... I hope he has that fire of wanting to be great, because he definitely has all the tools.

At first I thought he looked bored too, but it seems to just be his normal demeanor. I'm also starting to believe that it helps him on the court. That lethargic looking facial expression seems to lull his defender to sleep before he makes his move. :chuckles:

Definitely, it is like getting on a new workout plan after you have quit for so long. Your not gonna go into the gym and just start banging out sets. Kyrie needs to slowly re-establilsh his body and get that toe acclimated to going at 100%. I was really impressed with the way that Kyrie stopped Mario Chalmers. Chalmers is one of those assholes that will score 15 points on 5 threes that nobody closed out on, then the Heat win by 20 and it's a "blowout" LeBron took yet "another shit on his old team"

Another thing all time greats have in common is scoring the ball.. You can say that basically about anything they do. :chuckles:

Let's give the rookie some love: the Cavs look much better than last year's version (which had decent players at point guard in Mo Williams, Baron Davis and Ramon Sessions), and much of that is due to Irving's excellent offensive contributions. The last rookie to score at least 17 points with a True Shooting percentage of .575 or better was Tim Duncan. The last rookie guard to do it? Michael Jordan.

You gotta like that.

I liked seeing Kyrie defending Lebron last night.... Obviously him doing that all the time is impossible, but still, it was awesome

Lebron on Kyrie:

He reminds me of (Chris Paul) early in his days, as well,” said James…. “They definitely remind me of each other. Just how in control, and how they think the game. They show that you’re not in like a rookie mindset. You’re trying to put guys in a position to succeed. I’ve been looking forward to going against him. . . . He’s definitely beyond his years as a rookie point guard.

2 Rose
3 DWill
4 Westbrook
5 Kyrie Irving???
