Potential destinations for Ramon Sessions

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Are you even reading what we are saying? The Lakers and plenty of other teams would pay him more than we will.

The Lakers and plenty of other teams will certainly be ready and willing to scoop him up for the league minimum... seems to me only Minnesota was willing to pay him a portion of their MLE back when he was a free-agent the last time, why would anyone make the same mistake again?

Sessions may regret not taking his player option.

We're thinking who's on the market now, when the question is who will be on the market after the season: Nash, Kidd, Billups, Terry, Miller, and Deron for starters.

No shot Orlando trades for Sessions. We want a 1st, and they aren't giving theirs up. After they inevitably trade Howard, they start their plummet into the lottery. Now if they are dumb enough to bet their first rounder on the idea that Sessions is going to make them a title contender/keep Dwight in Orlando? Then by all means...

On a side note, whenever BimboColesHair posts, I'm like, the fuck? I didn't write that?

Hey, they got rid of their two second rounders in 2013 and 14, which could very well be in the 31-35 range. Maybe we could get their 2013 1st rounder unprotected and hope for the best. :)

A Yahoo "Contributor" Suggests a "Win/Win":

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in a unique position since they have two players who can start at point guard in the NBA: Kyrie Irving and Ramon Sessions.

Obviously Irving, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft and the front runner for the 2012 Rookie of the Year Award, is the starter and should remain the starter for as long as the Cavaliers' front office can keep him around.

While Irving is having a fantastic season, Sessions, an unrestricted free agent after this season, is playing the backup role with a starter's game log resume and production level. Sessions is averaging 10.2 points and 5.7 assists in 25 minutes per game.

With that said, It only makes sense for a trade in which both sides would win. If the right deal was made, Sessions would go to a team and play starter's minutes and the Cavaliers would land a player to help them in their current rebuilding process.

The problem is, making that right deal doesn't always happen, especially with a small market team in a city most people don't want to spend much time in: Cleveland.

However, I think Sessions is a valuable pickup for any team who doesn't have a true starting point guard such as the Los Angeles Lakers, the Orlando Magic (Jameer Nelson is not starter quality), the Atlanta Hawks or the Utah Jazz.

The fifth year player can take it to the hole, shoot, find the open man, run a fast break and play defense.

I'm not saying he is Chris Paul or Derrick Rose but he can be a Kyle Lowry or Raymond Felton type. Both of these guys are top 15 point guards in the league as they put up solid numbers. There is no doubt in my mind that if Sessions had the right opportunity he could shine just as bright or brighter than both of them.

The Cavs need talent at almost every position, especially with Anderson Varejao on the injured list for an extended period of time during not only the current season, but last season as well. His body is starting to become severely untrustworthy.

With Varejao out, Irving and Antwan Jamison are the only starting caliber players on the lineup. Jamison, a 14-year veteran, is seeing a little drop off and will probably be out of the league in the next two or three seasons. This makes Irving the only real piece to build a team around.

If the mindset of the Varejao situation is that he will become healthy, the Cavs will have two starter caliber players worth keeping on the roster.

The likeliness of a straight up trade of Sessions for someone who produces at a high level on the lineups of the above mentioned teams is unlikely. This means, the Cavs are more than likely going to get a draft pick or have to package him with another player for a better sell. But Irving, Varejao and Jamison are the only sales.

No one wants Daniel Gibson, Omri Casspi or Semih Erden.

If the Cavs don't make a trade, they lose because Sessions is going to walk. If the Cavs make a trade to a team that already has a starting point guard, Sessions is going to lose because he'll be in the same situation he is in right now in Cleveland and the situation he was in with Milwaukee and Brandon Jennings.

In my opinion, the Cavs and Sessions should make a call to Utah. Their current starter Devin Harris has fallen off from his once bright future. Utah could definitely be the place for Sessions as the Cavs would be returned with the Jazz's young talent in Derrick Favors or C.J. Miles.

ESPN's NBA Trade Machine allowed me to trade Sessions straight up for Favors. According to ESPN's basketball guru John Hollinger, whose analysis appears on any trade proposal through the machine, the Jazz's projected team wins would go up while Cleveland wouldn't be affected at all if the trade happened.

This trade would be alright for Utah, but not for the Cavaliers because they probably want more out of the trade then being the same team they are right now. On the other hand, with Varejao out, Favors would be a suitable replacement. I think if Favors had someone rely on him to perform, he would. Utah isn't the right situation for him.

A trade sending Sessions and center Ryan Hollins to Utah in return for Favors and Miles works on the trade machine as well. This would give the Cavs two players they can build a contender with while the Jazz would get a true starting point guard and some front court depth. If Favors was dealt, Al Jefferson, Paul Millsapp and rookie Enes Kanter would be the only big guys. Hollins offers boards and a high shooting percentage.

Favors and Miles are young with huge upsides. Favors is a serious down low threat on both sides of the ball while Miles wrecks havoc for opponents defenses with his length. Miles range has expanded nicely and he is shooting the mid-range more efficiently.

Cleveland could use efficient scorers who can also play defense. In turn, Sessions could use an opportunity to prove to the world, not just me and a few other journalists, that he is an NBA starting point guard.

:chuckles: good one, "Contributor"

Ya, I would do that deal, but this "contributor" seems just a bit out of touch with our roster. I just can't see an organization like Utah making that move, but who knows?

wtf? the thought of getting somebody with Derrick Favor's upside for Ramon (excuse my language) fuckin Sessions gives me boner.....that being said it's not happening, Utah isn't that dumb...

Can favors play C or would he take minutes away from Tristan? I feel like the Cavs frontcourt is still unknown. I would love to see Samardo get more time at his natural position and see Tristan start. I feel like Tristan's minutes are so inconsistent he is not getting enough time to make mistakes already. Bringing in another pf seems like a problem. That said, I'd love to get rid of Hollins.

This guy has no idea what he's talking about. The fact he thinks Ryan Hollins will get some boards alone is a knock on his credibility. Wouldnt put much stock in this article.

Favors can probably play center. He's 6'10" with a 7'2" wingspan and 9'4" standing reach. Thats the same reach as Tyson Chandler and just a bit less than Dwight. I'm not saying he'd be as good as those guys, but he's in the ballpark. He is listed as a Foward/Center, as well.

If the FO could make that trade its probably a good move, but I seriously doubt Utah would do it, nor do I think Utah thinks Ramon is better than Devin Harris.

"nterestingly enough, Favors' measurements compare quite favorably with those of Dwight Howard, a player he draws some (perhaps slightly optimistic) comparisons to. Howard measured just a quarter of an inch taller than Favors at the same age, was five pounds lighter and had a wingspan just half an inch longer. His measurements are comparable to the likes of Chris Bosh, Nene and Emeka Okafor, and are superior to those of Al Horford, another player who he's often compared to.

if orlando makes a trade that involves their 1st round pick this year, that means they aren't trading Howard and are instead going all out for a championship in hopes that Howard stays (or they expect to get enough back that they are still contenders - i.e. Bynum + Gasol). For a team that appeared to be in complete disarray just a couple of weeks ago, they're suddenly playing well and are moving up in the standings. So it's not out of the question the they give up a #1 to get better.
