2012 Offseason: Quarterbacks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Even better then. I wasn't sure where he was projected to go. Get Blackmon 4, Mike Adams or something at 22, Weeden at 37, then Doug Martin or LaMichael. I'd be happy with that.

Ugh, I don't like Weeden at all. If we want to win a Super Bowl sometime in the near future it won't be by adding a 27 year old QB with a high draft choice when we have so many god damn holes to fill elsewhere.

28 and he will be 29 by the time the season starts I believe.

I'm actually not worried about his age that much. If you'd ask fans if they would sign Big Ben today as a free-agent today, most would do it; he's 30 years old. If Weeden can be the guy to lead this team for the next 7 years with victories, I'm all for it. I just want to win...

Yes but Roethlisburger at 30 already has 2 superbowls and multiple years in the NFL. He isn't a 30 yr old rookie.

Even at Weeden's age you can get ten good years out of him if he turns out to be a player. The shelf life of a QB is as long as any player on the field, with the possible exception of interior linemen.

It's actually pretty stupid to worry about Brandon Weeden's age when you're the Browns and you literally don't have a functioning NFL quarterback on the roster. It's like being homeless and turning down a place to live because you don't like the draperies.

To me the best scenario if we were to get a QB worth anything in the draft is to get Weeden in a trade back into the 2nd round. If we could package our high 3 with one of the extra 4s we have and move into the 2nd to get him that's optimal IMO. You would still have 4, 22 & 37 to improve skill positions and you will use 2 mid round picks to take a gamble on a possible starting QB.

If we trade up in the 2nd to get him, I wouldn't mind the pick. I don't know about using our lone 2nd pick on him though. I do think he will be good at the next level. I just wish he was younger(obv).

Am I the only one that still doesn't want any of the QB's left in this draft? I feel like if we get Tannehill, Weeden, Cousins, or any other QB in this draft, the situation will be exactly like Colt's. They will be decent their first few games, then the FO and coaching staff will want to give them a full-season so they get a fair chance. They end up sucking, and we waste another 2 years without a franchise QB.

I'm still torn to be honest. I'd be fine either way really(sticking with Colt or drafting Weeden/Tannehill). I trust management to make the right call though.

Again, you can say this about any QB drafted unless you get lucky enough to take the guy at the top of the draft. I honestly think Weeden would be a top prospect if it wasn't for his age. He's got all the tools, he may not have a rocket arm, but it's definitely stronger than Colt's and good enough for the NFL. If you can get him in the second by trading back in, you're getting a talent later than he would be picked if he was the normal rookie age.

I 95% agree. Only case i can think of is Kurt Warner. He was 27 years old with zero experience his rookie year with St. Louis. Next year Green gets hurt and he comes in as a 28 year old sophmore and goes 13-3. Only thing close that I can think of.

Well he did have Arena Football experience.

Not even college level. Coaching is worse too. Dont pay arena coaches 4 mill a year.

This is the only example i can think of.

what do you guys think of trading with the rams down to 6, then taking tannehill there?
