Morris Claiborne Vs. Trent Richardson: pick a side

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For the WCO, I think he's a bad fit. He didn't run an NFL route tree at SC and essentially ran 9's and slants during his breakout sophomore year.

I agree, WCO is about running routes not necessarily size and speed. You need precise route running and the ability to run after catch whether that is breaking tackles or speed, it makes no difference. Greg Little will be a better receiver for us than Alshon would. The goal is to get a guy who can be a better player than Little on the other side.

I hate this forum because people are actually intelligent and after like 3 pages, I can't even make any good points because they've already been said.

So I guess I'll just leave it at "team Mo" and everyone can re-read all the other posts for my reasons why.

Everyone talks about how we are in the AFC north and how it's a running division, but Pittsburgh always seems to have 2 really good wr's. B-more has at least 2 above average ones and I wouldn't be shocked if cinch joins them this year with another good young wr. We only have Haden who's able to stop them, adding MoC would be huge for this.

Also we'd be able to play man with ease helping against the run.

I think we can all agree that it's nice to most likely be choosing between taking the best CB or RB prospect in the draft. I don't think you can go wrong either way if we are in that position.

We held our own vs those guys last year, not great but the defense was not the reason we lost every game in the division. I'd rather have someone our opponents have to game plan for rather than us picking guys so we can react to the division.

If you want to go that route about CB's then the giants should of never beat the falcons, packers, and patriots in the playoffs because they didn't have very good corners. I tend to think you need fantastic DE in a 4-3 system for it to be run to perfection. Unfortunately for us there are no DE that are worthy of a top 5 pick in this draft so you have to address a need on offense with a player that you have rated extremely high on that side of the ball. I would love to get Claiborne but at this stage that's more of a luxury pick and this team can not afford that type of pick at this particular point.

I agree. And I won't be surprised if Heckert goes after a pass-rushing DE with the No. 22 pick (assuming we go Trent at No. 4). Mercilus and Perry seem like good fits.

I wouldn't either, but I also wouldn't be surprised if we stand pat at DE in hopes Frosty Rucker will step his game up.

Frostee is actually a solid pass rusher (small sample size) the real question will be how he does with extended playing time and against the run. If you could fuse Parker and Frostee into one player he'd be pretty solid.

I always thought it was the other way around. He is good against the run, but isn't much of a pass rusher (which is why we signed Juqua Parker, who is a good pass rusher).

That's what I thought too. I looked at his scouting report on ESPN seems to confirm:

Comment: Rucker is a big strong, athletic defensive end. He is less physical than you would expect given his dimensions but can be effective defending the run. He has a good quickness and burst, but he lacks power and his speed is only marginal. Rucker has made some progress as both a pass-rusher and run defender but still lacks consistency.

Shiiitt.. haha as a side note, i just looked at where they had haden ranked among other corners and he's tied for 29th with Leigh Bodden among other guys.. Not sure when they last updated their scouting, but I guess take the stuff about Rucker with a grain of salt

I have told this story, but I was in a training for work the day the Browns signed Frostee. It turned out that he was a longtime Browns fan until the Bengals started in Cincy (he's from Cincy). I asked him how he felt about Frostee Rucker and he gushed about how every year the guy keeps getting better. When I told him that the Browns signed him, he got noticeably upset. He told us that we got a good player and was disappointed the Bengals let him go. I know it is just one opinion, but he was a solid and knowledgeable fan of the Bengals who not only knew who Frostee was, but knew enough about him to have a take.

This team needs playmakers in general so I don't think you can go wrong by picking either Richardson or Claiborne. Both players would impact their respective side of the ball immensely. We need to come away with one of these guys tommorow because they are two of the top 5 players in the Draft and in my opinion are two of the safest as well....

If you could fuse Parker and Frostee together, you would have a pretty solid/star player.

But not for the reasons you stated. Frostee is among the best run defenders in the NFL, while Parker is/was? a great pass rusher specialist.
