2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
. Yahoo! Sports

One NBA assistant coach said he was surprised Austin Rivers didn’t work out at the NBA's predraft combine here Thursday. The East scout expects Rivers to be selected in the Nos. 10-20 range, but an NBA source told Yahoo! Sports that Rivers has a promise late in the draft lottery. The Portland Trail Blazers, Toronto Raptors, Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards and New Orleans Hornets plan to work out Rivers.

JET, while not a true point guard, has more point guard in his game than Lamb does. Additionally, Lamb is about 2" taller and more of a true 2-guard.
I think he's very similar to Wayne Ellington & Daequan Cook, in particular.

J lamb, or doron?

Two things that are really interesting about miller. Firstly he is working out with John Lucas, so clearly he sees himself as a big wing player. Hes had a catastrophic injury but before it was very much like kevin durant was in HS. He has a long frame and i think hes worth the risk, if he survives until 2nd round. Everyone was scared of dejaun blair, apart from the spurs. everyone else was wrong.

I do not want Miller, the difference between Miller and Blair is that Miller is a wing and needs to be able to move. He won't be able to stay in front of NBA 3's, and he is way too skinny to play the 4.

If we gave him a promise then he wouldn't be working out for teams behind us in the draft order. The Cavs are pretty much working out the whole draft class.

I know we did not give him a promise. That is not the point. If we obtain pick 11, he is one of the options we are seriously thinking about in my opinion. I think Rivers is the prospect Ben was talking about, on Thursday night. If we trade down a Barnes, Rivers 1st round would be very feasible.

Are we speculating that Portland wants Drummond or is that being reported by someone? I would think of all teams Portland would stay away from Drummond. They have the worst luck when it comes to big men.

Oden
Bowie
Walton
LaRue Martin

It's a new day, with a new GM (Neil Olshey) in Blazer land.
He's going to build that club, like he did the Clippers, to be young & athletic. He was heavily involved in prep all star camps & player development and he puts alot of stock in recruiting rankings.
The Blazers have holes at SG & C, so they are likely after Beal or Drummond. Knowing Olshey, it's Drummond they're after.

Portland has holes at PG/SG/C, and at #6 they'll take whoever they feel the BPA is.. except maybe if it's T-Rob/Barnes... even Barnes, he could pair up with Batum on the wing if they get a penetrating PG. Expect Drummond, Beal, Lilliard, MKG and Lamb to be in play at 6, as well as considering trading the pick.

How many of you would hate the Barnes, Rivers/Ross combo at 6 and 11 if it came to reality?

Cleveland showing why they are a top class organisation, no stone is unturned. Good job

It hasn't always been our choice in the past, but we have so many picks in this draft and ways we could move up or back ... that almost any player other than Davis is in play. Plus having Kyrie on board is a big attraction, at least to non-PG's.

If the Cavs get us Barnes and Ross I would be thrilled beyond belief. I'm really starting to think that the guy Ben was talking about is Ross.

If Portland wants to "win now" and avoid projects - then what if they're interested in taking Barnes? He could replace Gerald Wallace, and the rumors about the Cavs being interested in Barnes would make a lot more sense.

If we don't make the swap until draft night, we'll know exactly who's on the board at #4, who will be left at #6, and who Portland wants to take. At that point the only wildcard is which way the Kings would go. And that's moot if we like 2 players still on the board.

if he's available at 33/34, he is a no brainer. cavs can afford to roll the dice, esp with 2nd rounders and he still hasn't fully recovered from surgery.

hate is an understatement.

i'm guessing you haven't heard of that batum guy?

don't really see how he helps them win now anyway but okay.

Or Wesley Matthews. Portland has a weak center and a mediocre point guard. I think they are willing to trade up, because they want Drummond over Sullinger. If they stay put, they reach for Leonard or Lillard. Makes no sense. Trade 6 and 11 for Drummond and 33, sign Mo Williams or if your really have the money pick up Deron.
