My dream draft right now:

4 - Drummond
10 - Rivers/Ross (Because we're gonna trade for it :D )
24 - Miller

And there is our C, SF, and SG. :)

That would be great. But i would rather have lamb at 10 (if he is still there). Besides, if we trade up to 10, wouldnt we have to give up 24?

but a draft along those lines would be a huge talent infusion.

As someone who has followed the Kings closely for a while, I think the chances of them wanting Drummond are very low. With all the issues regarding their ownership financial trouble, relocation and and/or sale talk, they cannot afford to take on projects. Also, they have Cousins who is a great talent, but requires a huge amount of attention and patience. Taking on another big man who requires the same would be something they'd rather avoid, I think.

Their biggest issue is at SF, and they could use another PF next to DMC if Jason Thompson leaves. And with the questionmarks surrounding Tyreke Evans, they might look for his replacement. So I think they have MKG, Barnes, Robinson, Sullinger and Beal ahead of Drummond, and there's some buzz they are high on Henson.

Varejao and/or taking on salary could get us the tenth pick.

Not a fan of trading with Portland. Quit being pussies and eat some salary to get NOH's 10th pick.

But I guess if Barnes is really who they like, go ahead and make the trade. I just don't want to believe Barnes is who we want because he sucks.

Didn't the hornets want a starting caliber PG in addition to salary in return for the pick?

I would probably do that in a heart beat, im just not sure NOH would.

That draft would set us back years and punch Kyrie's ticket out of town.
But what about the friendship!!?!?

I'd take Barnes and Rivers and watch RCF burn.

Also, the fact that Portland wants Drummond so badly has instantly made me sour on him.
I'll be honest, there probably isn't a (realistic) outcome I'd hate more than that one. I've made my opinion on Barnes known and don't hold a high opinion for OJ Mayo 2.0 either.

Is there really that big of a difference between 4 & 6 in this draft though?
Last night I said in another post that I think there is, yes, simply because of Drummond. I believe the Cavs have a situation that will enable him to make the most out of his potential (not nec. his ceiling, but players rarely reach that anyway) and at that point, he will be significantly, significantly better than Barnes. It might take a few years and would of course be bumpy at times.....but in the long run so worth it.

If Drummond isn't available at 4, then the answer is still probably yes. There's a chance Gilchrist/Beal/Robinson falls to #6 but I have a feeling it'll be Barnes and the Cavs will then use #11 on a horribly overrated wing like Rivers. That outcome would not be pleasant.

Are we speculating that Portland wants Drummond or is that being reported by someone? I would think of all teams Portland would stay away from Drummond. They have the worst luck when it comes to big men.

Oden
Bowie
Walton
LaRue Martin

So they are going to stay away from big men because of decisions that were made decades ago? And when Oden isn't even comparable (he had injury issues coming into the NBA, Drummond doesn't)?

Guys there are major questions about Miller's health- I had a conversation through email with a media member who was at the combine. He told me there is no lock that Miller is a 1st round player now at all. In fact he said 60=70 percent chance he is there at 33. This was also confirmed this morning.

RT @Hypnot1q_: where does Quincy Miller fall to in the draft ? ---> Could go second round... he has cratered.

I'm sure its just another option the Cavs have in their back pocket.

The top 5 have been in such a state of flux, that they very well could get the guy they've wanted all along at 6, and get 11 in the process. The Cavs have been rumored to be interested in MKG, Beal, Robinson, Barnes, Lamb and Drummond. That's 6 people, and at this point any one of those 6 could be available at #6.

So, if #1-3 are not the players we want, we'd obviously know who Portland is taking at #4, and the only unknown is Sac at 5. I'd say if they're gonna do this, the trigger isn't pulled until #3 pick is announced.

Agreed. I think having this option has an additional benefit. I think this would weaken the Bobcats position if the Cavs really wanted to move up to #2 to get who they want. If the cost is too high the Cavs can use that as leverage say we'll move to Plan B. Charlotte will be desperate for picks because there isn't a franchise player on the board and only moving two spots for an equivalent player while getting as many additional picks from the Cavs as possible would be in their best interest. At least that is what I'd do if I were the Bobcats GM.

Two things that are really interesting about miller. Firstly he is working out with John Lucas, so clearly he sees himself as a big wing player. Hes had a catastrophic injury but before it was very much like kevin durant was in HS. He has a long frame and i think hes worth the risk, if he survives until 2nd round. Everyone was scared of dejaun blair, apart from the spurs. everyone else was wrong.
