2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think Sacremento drafts Drummond if they get the opportunity. They already have a C with insane measurables, so that would leave Drummond to fall to us, unless of course Portland likes him...
Sacramento's "C with insane measurables" is a scrub who is probably the dumbest player in the league and most certainly wouldn't stop them from picking Drummond. Drummond & Cousins could be ridiculous.

But Portland would obviously take him. They need a defensive C badly and sliding him next to LMA and Batum would make a really nice starting front court.

They are not trading up for Sullinger!

If Robinson somehow managed to fall out of the top-5, that would be an honest blessing for the Cavs. He's going to be a very good player. Not the best fit for our team, but he would be a very good player to "be stuck with."

I think if Portland were to trade for the #4, the top 5 would go: Davis, Robinson, MKG, Drummond, Sullinger.

William Bufford?

You don't do the Portland trade unless it makes sense. Top 3 go Davis Robinson MKG, then WE draft Drummond and trade him to Portland for the 6 and 11. Only variable is the Kings, who are not drafting Beal in any case. MAYBE there is a danger they do their own pick trade, but no matter because Either Beal or Barnes is there regardless. If somehow MKG drops to four, screw Portland and we take him.

No way Hornets pass on Davis.

No way Charlotte picks up essentially Steve Kerr (Beal) instead of Drummond, MKG or Robinson.

No way Washington passes on which ever of those three are left for Beal, as they are OK at shooting guard.

If MKG is on the board we take him and pop champaign. if not we trade either Robinson or Drummond for 6 and 11, and then we pick up either Beal, Barnes, or Jones at 6...essentially we move up from 24 to 11 for nothing.

It's a great strategy.

Of course the fact that it has been discussed means Zero.. . I imagine lots of scenarios are being discussed.

If for some reason t-rob drops to four instead of Drummond, you may still have a trade with Portland, because Aldrige can go either way.

See I don't understand why Portland would do that trade with us if they want Drummond. Drummond might be there at 6 for them as it is.

Davis
TRob
Beal
MKG
Barnes
Drummond

is how I see things shaking out if we don't take Drummond. I would have to think they want a Brandon Roy "replacement".

Bro... Sully might be lucky to be a lotto pick, he would have a better shot at winning the lottery than being selected 5th imo.

Not a chance. The most developed post player in the draft with tons of scoring potential is not going to be a "lucky" late lottery selection. He's going top 10 easy.

DX has him going 6 to Portland, for reference...

Does Portland really want a project like Drummond? I thought they wanted to get a veteran for one of their picks because they aren't in rebuild mode?

what if the draft goes like this?

1. Davis
2. MKG
3. Beal
4. Drummond
5. Barnes

we would be fucked if that happens...that's why i'm not convinced this is a great trade (plus i want Drummond...)

Are you kidding me? We would get arguably the best offensive big in the draft, and then whatever wing player we want at 11! That's great.

I can't see him going any earlier than 10. And my god I hope we don't pick him at 11 if he is still there.

Consider that their new GM, Neil Olshey, was heavily involved in all star camps on the prep level as well as player development, before he moved onto the NBA. He looks heavily at the prep recruiting rankings in evaluating prospects. That said, Drummond was a huge deal on the prep level and it was major news when he re-classified and decided to attend UConn. Considering that they have both forward spots filled with Batum & Aldridge, it stands to reason that they would go for a guard or center. There are no point guards worthy of a pick that high and Bradley Beal is the only 2 guard worthy of a pick that high. That being said, they would be after either Beal or Drummond, but most likely Drummond.

If the Cleveland-Portland trade happens I would expect the top of the draft to go something like this:

1. Hornets- Anthony Davis
2. Bobcats- Thomas Robinson
3. Wizards- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
4. Blazers- Andre Drummond
5. Kings- Bradley Beal
6. Cavaliers- Harrison Barnes- Cavaliers really like Barnes & want to reunite him with good buddy, Kyrie Irving.
7. Warriors- Jared Sullinger
8. Raptors- Jeremy Lamb
9. Pistons- John Henson
10. Hornets- Damian Lillard
11. Cavaliers- Tyler Zeller- Zeller is the kind of offensive-minded center the Cavaliers want to put beside Tristan Thompson; it doesn't hurt that he was a teammate of Barnes' at UNC.

Do not like the idea of trading down at all. Robinson is already picking up hype, he will be a top 3 pick. And we will get the opportunity to take MKG or Beal which is what most of us originally wanted. Fuck trading down, especially giving up our #24 in the process. I'm not even considering it unless we end with 3+ first round picks.
