2012 Cavs Summer League

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is one of the reasons why I'm not a huge fan of signing a guy like Scola. There are a lot of younger guys on the roster, even aside from the likes of Zeller and Thompson, who still could have upside left. I'd rather not have to cement them to the bench (or the role of like, 5th-6th big) just so Scola can play here.

Yeah, the Scola thing is confusing to me. He's not putting this team in the playoffs. He can't be moved at the deadline (amnesty pickups MUST be on the roster a whole year). You're basically forfeiting a year of seeing what young big you can find. It's baffling, actually.

THey are shooting for the playoffs. No tank this year...

That's all well and good, but "shooting for the playoffs" and "having the personnel necessary to make the playoffs" are two different things.

Lots, if not every team is shooting for the playoffs, not every team is capable of it.

Also, based on what they've done this offseason, I don't agree that they are shooting for the playoffs this year.

(AND that doesn't mean they are "tanking.")

Anybody know what our starting lineup will look like tonight? I have to imagine since Kyrie is out it will be:

PG: Donald Sloan
SG: Dion Waiters
SF: DJ Kennedy
PF: Tristan Thompson
C: Tyler Zeller

This is just what im assuming...i couldnt find our starting lineup so this is just my speculation

Well that post didn't turn out the way you thought it would... Those :D smilies look pretty hilarious though

Edit: and the post was edited haha

True... I respect your opinion but last year we were in contention for the 8th seed with that terrible roster and we have only improved since then and Kyrie has gotten better.

Woops... ment to reply to Cvzosec

Yea i was like WTF! Haha but i switched up with spaces

Random: Mychael Thompson hasn't done much with the Knicks. Had 7 points his first game and didn't do anything special in the second (went 1-4)

As I am sure we all are, I am extremely excited for the SL game tonight. It is a perfect opportunity to temporarily get the Kyrie injury and the Bynum Bonanza out of our heads and get a quick glimpse of Dion, Zeller, and the hopefully improved TT.

What's an added plus is seeing our squad go against MKG (who was very impressive in his first outing) and a Charlotte group that is actually quite good for the SL (for obvious reasons).

Also, let the record show (unless I turn out to be wrong of course) that I'm feeling strangely optimistic about how Dion and Zeller will do tonight.

We've certainly gotten younger, but nobody's sure if we've gotten better. We were a couple of games out of the eighth seed after a 30 game stretch of the season. No reason to believe that we will be able to sustain that with rookies and 2nd-year players making up the majority of the roster. It's easy to pick a stretch of games when we were moderately successful and predict that we will emulate that for a season. It's also easy to believe that Waiters and Zeller will easily fill the scoring and leadership left by AP and AJ, but by no means is it a certainty. With our depth and youth, we are more likely to finish in the bottom five than we are to sniff the playoffs.

Yeah, Samardo's supposedly gotten into decent shape for his contract year. Who could have predicted that?

I always wanted to see Big Z again in the old black and blue before he retired. They should bring back those one of these seasons

No way. Give me Price/Daugherty era jerseys over those any day.

anybody know of a way to watch the summer league games if you don't have NBAtv?

We're going to have our hands full with these Bobcats unless Waiters explodes tonight.
