The Trent Richardson Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It will be amazing to watch the Steelers and Ravens stack the box because we have no passing game.

TO was the shit back in the day. Remember that time he was on the 9ers and posed on the Dallas star twice. Lol. Those were the good ole days of celebrations. Now we have some queer salsa dancing and some dumpy white guy with a big head and a flat top spiking the ball like it's 1980.

Well at least I got the T.O. GIF.

Does Shurmur not know how to use RBs? We throw 40+ times a game and we got a power back who we don't use in the second half

Generally because they're down 14 or more...

Its still warm outside. This is the AFC north where is snows. Shurmur is smart by saving Trent for those snowy games.

Not sure I understand the use of the TO gif, even if it's funny as hell.

You're still wrong. We have a passing game. 320+ in 2 of first 4 games.

It snows once, maybe twice a year during a game.

I know, I wasn't being too serious. We are passing so much because we run a west coast offense. Your not used to it because last season we didn't have the right qb in there to run this offense. In the west coast offense you pass to set up the run. That requires about 65-80% of the plays to be passing play. We pass about 70% of the time. I am not saying it is the best offense to run when you have a really good runningback but the philosophy of this is to pass alot more than run. This is also the reason why people are getting upset with Andy Reid for not running with McCoy enough. They are about 54% pass to 46% run now but I did include all of Vick's run play in when I did that stat. Now I don't watch the eagles so I dont know how often they have designed run plays for Vick but If I were to make all of his runs plays pass plays then its would be 65% pass to 35% run.

Actually, Shurmur tends to run more at times that he should pass.

Couple examples:

-Trying to get the ball back to end the half. Succeeding, then running on 1st down..
-Down by 13 @ Baltimore with about 9:00 to go in the game, he decides to run.

I'd really like to be inside his brain sometimes.

Alot of room in there to work I am sure

It's his end of game clock management skills that have me scratching my head. He starts calling time outs at about the 3:30 mark, and he does it consistently. That means he'd ideally like to get the ball back with roughly 3 minutes on the clock and no timeouts. There are numerous reasons I don't understand that strategy:

1. If the defense doesn't get a stop on the drive he starts calling timeouts, the best case scenario is getting the ball with about 1 to 1:30 left on the clock and no timeouts. If he instead decided to let the clock run and the defense does stop the drive on that same set of downs, the Browns would get the ball back with 2 mins and 3 timeouts. This still seems preferable to me.

2. If he does get a stop when he starts calling timeouts, he gets the ball back with 3 minutes to go, and no timeouts. Even if the Browns score a TD in this scenario, it's likely to happen in less than 3 minutes, which means he'll give the ball back to the other team who will have a chance to counter, and presumably have their timeouts as well.

I just don't get why so many coaches have different clock management approaches at the end of games. You'd think there'd be one fairly obvious best choice they'd all adhere to.

I've always respected coaches. When a lot of people complain about coaching, my usual response is "Coaching is a lot harder than it looks" or "There is a reason he is getting paid and you aren't". And this is generally true. For instance Mike Brown was a terrible in game adjuster. Probably the worst. But his game to game adjustments as well as his non game workout routines were top notch.

There is nothing about Shurmur I can defend. I honestly think a good portion of fans could step into his job and put a better product out there on Sundays. And that is an absolutely terrible thing to say about our organization. This guy is absolute hot garbage. He's like that guy who is trying to outsmart everyone, including himself, and ends up just failing miserably every time.

This is exactly what I've thought of each of the past 2 weeks, when he's called timeout on D to get the ball back at the end of the 1st half (like most coaches would, if enough time is left, etc), only to get the ball back & WASTE time by freaking running on 1st down.
