Correct ... but are we sure there is NOT a law?

Thus rendering BigMar Lion's ranting moot? Because if there is a law saying, and these protesters are just doing it down the street, tough luck. You gotta just deal with it.

Well, that was basically my point. Wherever these guys are protesting, it's obviously legal for them to do so or I have no doubt that the cops wouldn't hesitate to arrest them. I'm with you that it's probably a law and they are bypassing it by being outside the legally restricted area.

My point was basically that, unless we create an additional law that makes whatever they're doing illegal, they're not criminals, just assholes.

If the KKK wants to assemble and act like jackasses on their own time...I don't give a shit.

Again, you do not protest funerals. From a societal standpoint, that's where you draw the line. You don't advance as a society if you can't protect yourself as a people by simple measures.

The idea of allowing the protesting of a funeral is simply ludicrous, flawed, detrimental, destructive behavior.

These fuckers have already won any litigation on the matter. If you ask me someone needs to keep tabs on these people and protest THEIR funerals when/if their members/family are laid to rest in a public setting. Golden Rule folks. We can't touch them, they win every case against them and they are just doing it for money. Its either something like this or we completely ignore these people.

I mean what else is there? Do you kill them with kindness. Maybe have coffee and donuts waiting on them when they protest another funeral.

Well the hackers released a lot of info so I would expect something to happen here in the near future. Im hoping the crazies back off now that their info is out there. There are a lot of scorned people out there who are going to go for retaliation in some form or another.

I don't feel sorry for those evil people.

What exactly do they accomplish doing this down the street? Point is, law or not, you MAKE IT so (enact laws)...You're right.....you deal with it. By not allowing them to do it lol......see where I'm going with this?

We need to be able to define the difference between good and bad. Why do people want to make it such a gray area for such terrible things like protesting at a funeral? lol I really don't get it.

Not really, no. These are basic concepts and you are just not getting them or you are and are just too stubborn to admit that you see what we're saying.

I think we all agree that these people are assholes and protesting funerals is pathetic. Not sure how many more times Jack and myself need to repeat that.

The fuck are you guys talking about. Of course they haven't broken a law. Do you think all the people they did this too aren't pursuing every avenue(including restrictions) possible to stop these guys?

I believe they have to be 1000 feet away or some shit like that. Obviously thats not enough.

Well, if you havent broken a law...you're...NOT A CRIMINAL!!! DING DING DING!

Seriously, I can't make this shit up.

Chris. Answer this question.

Do you think it should be illegal to protest a funeral? Yes or No. And if you really have to put qualifications on that......therein lies the problem with you and me (in our ideology).

Why does it matter what he thinks? What matters is what the law says. It has nothing to do with ideology. I agree that it should probably be illegal to protest a funeral at all, regardless of your distance to the actual ceremony. But at the same time, it's not actually illegal, and I'm not going to call people who do protest funerals criminals because, duh, they aren't. Morally they may be despicable, but they're not criminals.

I really don't understand how this is such a difficult concept for you to grasp.

Trust me...I grasp the concept lol. And it matters what he thinks because he is a representation of the people that enact or fail to enact laws. It matters greatly.

Your thinking of "oh hey, it's not illegal, so it's all good" is flawed. Period.

Do you believe slavery is OK? You know what? Many countries did and may still do. But hey, they're not doing anything illegal. Gee...someone had to have stood up and said NO MORE ENSLAVING AN ENTIRE RACE BECAUSE IT'S JUST NOT RIGHT!!

We just aren't at that point in this thread yet, or apparently society for that matter.

Oh boy, now we're talking slavery?

Look, I don't agree with protesting funerals. I've said that about 30 times at this point. If it isn't illegal, how can I 1) call people who do it "criminals" and 2) ask for them to be locked up? Answer: I can't, I'd be a fool to do so.

Where is #3?? If it isn't illegal, how can I MAKE IT ILLEGAL. Yes, I used slavery as a reference.

They didn't give out the info so WBC would get hurt, they did it so people can go protest and legally terrorize them outside their homes. That's pretty cool.

What did James Hetfield from Metically say again? Ah, yes - Fight fire with fire!

I have no idea. I'm not a politician. Again, if you don't want them protesting outside of funerals (and really, no one does), then there needs to be a law restricting it. Until then, these people are free to be all the douchebag they can be. Perhaps you should write your congressional representatives if you want to see the laws updated.

I honestly don't even get why you're arguing here. No one here is saying that it's necessarily right that these people are protesting funerals, and I'm sure everyone here agrees it's horrible and in bad taste, but it's not illegal and these people, however dickish they may be, are not criminals.

But, is it really not against any laws? Could a group of say Browns fans gather in front of a certain head coach's house and protest his lack of quality play calling? I don't mean an angry mob either. I mean an orderly peaceful demonstration against incompetence. Is that okay? Don't you think the protesters will find themselves chased off by the local police even though it is just a peaceful assembly?
