I'm tired and have had a few drinks.... This seems like a great trade for us. Am I right or wrong?

According to the poll, over 70% rated it an A+ and since it paved the way for the Griz to sign my hero and life partner, Delonte West, that's like extra credit points. Chicken Waaaaaaaaaaaaannnnngs for everybody!!!

I'm seeing it now. Looks like highway robbery in a way. Love the big checkbook of DG! Go Cavs!

I wasn't sure where to post this question, so I originally put it in the stickied draft thread above. However, questions tend to get lost in those threads, so I'll post it here....

If the Lakers don't make the playoffs, why wouldn't they remove all protections on our swap pick? Wouldn't they rather have us get their lottery pick this year than a team in their own division? Is it possible that we'll end up with the Laker's unprotected lottery pick this year without giving up anything?

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

Wow what a great win today for the cavs. First Grant completely takes advantage of the grizzlies and then we beat the Celtics.

Grant has to be the most underrated GM in the league, he just continues to make huge moves with virtually nothing. This team has such a bright future and love the late additions of now Speights and Livingston for depth.

Cheers to a bright future!

Don't agree with this logic: $6 million now spent could mean $6 million less to spend when we are in the luxury tax.

What make the trade valuable is not the chance to blow part of your wad to draft an Eyenga but a chance to get an Irving

I get what you're saying with the bolded part by DG has the Casino in Clevealnd, QL and owns half of downtown Detriot.

http://www.crainsdetroit.com/articl...lan-for-downtown-detroit-begins-to-take-shape

DG is going to help rebuild dt Detroit. Which is going to make him loads of money, probably more than he makes from the casino in Cleveland.

And you know why?

Because he just bought another casino in Detriot

http://www.mlive.com/business/detroit/index.ssf/2013/01/company_forms_committee_to_rev.html

BTW DG has plans to do the the same type rebuild in downtown Cleveland (below article maybe a tad old but it's what is in the cards)

http://www.freep.com/article/201111...t-blueprint-Cleveland-looks-similar-Detroit-s

Needless to say if you go over these things it will tell you that with DG's track record of business moves there won't be a time when DG doesn't spend the money if it benefits the team in some way either right then or a year or two down the road.

I've always liked Speights game, just needs to develop more on the defensive end of the floor, call it crazy but I think he has the potential to go 16 and 10 each night and won't get pushed around underneath...

I don't think Phoenix would agree to this decision and they would have to since the Lakers already traded the non-playoff scenario pick to them.

I haven't read all the pages but what about a David West comparison. He actually may be more athletic. Team him with Kyrie like West had CP when Scott was with them.

Here's hoping Memphis is a complete failure next season.

Speights is nowhere near as good as David West...

Speights is more like a poor man's version of Al Jefferson. Mid range game/back to the basket/not a great defensive player kind of a guy.

Posted this in the Speights thread

On a side note

I think Zeller ends up coming off the bench after about a week or two

Cleveland coach Byron Scott thinks the trade will benefit Cleveland in several ways.

''The biggest thing out of the whole deal is getting Mo (Speights) in there and getting that first round pick as well,'' Scott said. ''Very valuable assets. It was a good day for us.''

The 6-foot-10 Speights will help ease the loss of Varejao, who was leading the NBA in rebounding. Speights averaged 6.6 points and 4.7 rebounds as one of the Grizzlies' top reserves but had been averaging only 14.5 minutes this season coming off the bench in Memphis. His contract expires after next season.

''We needed another big with Andy being lost for the season,'' Scott said. ''Maurice is a guy who has been in the league for a while. He's definitely proven he can play. He's a good mid-range shooter, is a tough kid and rebounds the ball. Wayne Ellington can stretch the floor. He's gotten better each year he's been in the league. Josh is a little bit of a combo (guard).''

yeah and he makes 1/4 of Jeffersons salary
